i remember the good ol day when x used to stream japanese horror movies on livestream... good times

There's one called Occult by the director of Noroi and Shirome.

It's about 95% good, and then in the last minute it completely drops the ball. It's still worth watching because it's an interesting failure. You can see what they were trying to accomplish, and the special effects just couldn't perform as required.

P.O.V. is another good j-horror. Similar to Shirome as it's a found footage in a haunted school.

There's another interesting one, somebody posted a bootleg on /x/ over halloween, can't remember the title. It's just a dude setting up camera equipment in a supposedly haunted house for an hour. And absolutely nothing happens. But if you pay super close attention to the background, there's all sorts of supernatural shit happening that isn't obvious, and it requires repeated viewings.

The subtitles come in czech but if you activate the automatic translation they change to english, and it was obviously translated from english to czech in the first place, so they are ok.

The owner of this channel has some other Japanese cult classics. "Tokyo Rampage" is highly recommended if you're into the "revenge/lone wolf" genre.

Not Japanese, but have you guys seen The Host from 2006? Korean monster movie, pretty popular at the time. I really like it when I was younger, and it was just as good when watching it just recently. Check it out.

Not a movie, but there's a series called Yami Shibai, it's in its fourth season now, it's a series of 4 minute, cut-out style animated horror shorts set in present day Japan meant to evoke the kind of cut-out puppetry of old travelling storytellers. The stories are very urban legend-like, some are better than others definitely, but it's a charming show that exhibits some genuinely great pieces of weird imagery and ideas.
