There is definitely a built in "luck" with reading. Some are good at it, some aren't. Some have an internal and unconscious understanding of events and can point to omens without thinking twice, and be completely correct. Some cannot.

I'd say not worry about it and just perform it. Shuffle until you're comfortable. It'll just feel "right".
Tarot doesn'thave to be a big ritual, it'll work one way or another if you can interpret the signs correctly.

Stop letting others fight your battles for you. Seriously, put the boots to it right this second.
