That "God is love." obviously this is not a transitory property of equality, because love is not God. Anyway the point is, obviously this would lend a reasoning person to hopefully, honestly, examine whether a loving God would make beings evil to start, or make or do anything to 'torment' others. doesn't sound loving. so, then, perhaps a Creator made spirit creatures to be individuals, and they could thus choose whether they wanted to be good or bad. that would be on them.
