Agreed with this anon. Japan is know as the land of the Kami (aka Gods) by their own inhabitants since they first settled there.

Even if you don't believe in supernatural spirits, the ammount of mental energy the people devote to their land is off the charts. Aokigahara is notoriously a really spooky place.
