Me and my family were clearing out my dead great grandma's house. We were burning all of her possessions that were too old or broken to be salvaged. As i was throwing some old ripped dresses into the bonfire i saw my dad and uncle come towards the fire with a perfectly fine looking oak chest. i asked why they were burning it and my dad just mumbled under his breath something about hoodoo and popitts. when i tried to ask him again he completely ignored me. any info will be appreciated.

Do you mean Puppets
no there was a distinct o sound when he said it. like poppy seed or something
I googled hoodoo poppets and found some links, maybe that'll help.

My ex-gf used to call me poppit (puppet with a fake accent, obviously). She also said to me "eventually, you will understand how terrible I am" (something like this, I recall it being more well-worded though). Kind of unsettles me.

Poppet is a real term of affection too.

Yeah, the poppet thing wasn't what unsettled me. This thread just reminded me of this, and I figured I'd share.

This is where I assume she picked it up from, actually. Struggling to not picture her as that guy whenever she said it was fun.

>Poppet
Assuming they were voodoo dolls, would burning them be the correct thing to do?
