Because? If i had to choose one bored on 4chan that was most like reddit, it would be /x/, because of whiners like you want anything you don't like or disagree with to be deleted. There is a lot of sweet ass information on Antarctica out there and anytime anyone tries to discuss it here on X, little bitches go rabid.

/x/ is exactly the place for this shit so fuck off.

There are large underwater passageways under the ice, accessible by submarine, learning to large interconnection, hollow sections, with tunnels and immense caverns into the bedrock, including warm water pools.

why doesn't someone grab a yacht get as close to antarctica as legally possible or even a bit closer and then launch on of those high altitude baloons. That would provide some useful insight. Someone on here surely has the money to do this. I'd chip in.

It would be very difficult, expensive, and time consuming to send rescue to every weirdo that ventured into the vast nowhere that is Antarctica. That's why I believe they don't want people going. I'm open to other suggestions, however, nothing seemed to change my opinion yet

it is a fucking continent

if you go on your own
and if you don't tell anyone but the staff you're working with where you are going, no one is going to stop you from entering Antarctica

It is a pile of ice, mountais and frozen lakes
Must be beautiful and it certainly has some pre-historical shit in its domains, I have no doubt about that, but there is no such thing as a Nazi underdround pyramid or whatsoever

There could be some military shit, but there would be warnings before enterig the area, so you'd be safe to explore

glad to answer all the autism concerning these questions

I've rounded the horn in a Bristol channel cutter, and frankly that's as close as I want to get to Antarctica. The seas are rough, the weather's subject to change on a moment's notice, it's brutally fucking cold, and when everything eventually goes tits up, you're probably on your own. Any alien Nazis in Antarctica are welcome to the place as far as I'm concerned.

That having been said, Americans, at least, can apply for "summer" jobs at the science station down there. You'll most likely be mopping the floors, but still.
>>

>>
>>18624650
It's not illegal, genius. Go do it.
>>
>>18625200
Do you think it was a fart-powered raft?
>>
>>18624599
Why? There are already half dozen countries with scientific bases there doing research and launching atmospheric monitoring (and astronomy) balloons multiple times per day.

Sailing down there is srs bidness. You don't just charter a 45' fibreglass hull sailboat and go. There are a handfull of experienced people who do go down there and they have reinforced steel hulls and won't guarantee a successful trip because weather.

The Vendee Globe round-the-world single-handed race is finishing up. Just before Christmas guys were sailing 60' carbon-composite sailboats hugging the 50th S parallel between South Africa, Australia, & S.America and had very rough condx. (Thomas Ruyant smashed into a ufo doing 17 kn and it brought the boat to a standstill causing catastrophic damage and injuring the sailor. He limped to NZ in 5 days in a sinking boat. Google for pix). A couple of boats dipped to the 40th to cut the distance and got their asses pummelled (structural damage) before retreating north to thr 50's. And this is during the southern hemispheres "nice" summer weather.

A highly intelligent cephalopod of some sort, highly intelligent, able to crawl up on an ice sheet and nab its prey. It has an ink-sac like structure that releases some sort of toxin into the water that paralyzes its prey. It's able to adapt to its preys attempts to fight, avoid and worse, when its tentacles are separated from its body, they retain enough memory to attack even when separated from the main body.

Further study suggested the severed tentacle may even be capable of regenerating into a new cephalopod.

Why don't you go. Seriously, don't tell anyone. Noone is gunna stop you, just like noone is gunna pay for your dumb ass to be rescued when you realise you're entirely alone in an unspeakably vast frozen wilderness without a hope for survival.
>>
>>18624650
It's not illegal. I'm pretty sure Hurtigruten do cruises. Besides, it probably should be. It's the last true wilderness. An entire ungoverned, free, open continent. Its a scientific wonderland.
>>
>>18624599
You do it. You'll find a frozen wilderness more vast than you could comprehend. Then you'll die of exposure, and we won't have to listen to your dumb ass shit.
