why? the amateur rocket hitting the dome at 1:00 that proves the flat Earth or the shitty CGI running at ~1:40 or is it that fish eye lens effect at 1:30?
tell me more about that GTFO please.
>>
>>18603015
This post really is the mindset of the average flattard in a nutshell.
When he thinks that something proves his view somehow (although it doesnt), it is proof. Yet, when the VERY SAME video disproves him, it is obviously CGI. Throw in some buzzword that doesnt change anything about the video (le fish lens!) and we have all the marks of extreme confirmation bias to the point of denying reality. I am glad this is only a troll thread, but those people really exist. fuck this gay earth
>>
>>18603046
okay it was that shitty CGI then.
thanks for answering, balltard.

about that rocket hitting the dome, the real documentary can be watched here. There was no CGI and no fish eye lens in the real thing.

The flatfags think that they have exclusive knowledge, that somehow they are part of some sort of selected group. Just like gnosticism and masons, all of them fools.
>>
>>18603094
Sure buddy, just keep ad homineming entire groups of people you've never met.
>>
>>18602801
No it doesn't have such mechanism
For one thing the project team never made any mention of it just shills and the rocket stop spinning and start falling immediately instead of decelerating.
You can even hear the sound of the impact.

Jesus goddamn Christ. Why is space now a sphere? Why does New Mexico cover half of the Earth?

Fucking shills man. I swear to god you people are the worst.
>>
>>18603071
See? Every video that is evidence against your case is magic cgi of course. every video you desperately try to present as evidence for your case is of course the real deal. No, if you can play the ignorant game, everyone can. If you deem fotographic evidence as irrelevant, dont present it yourself.
You dont actually care about real evidence. It becomes real as long as you can construct it as confirmation for the view you already hold. bad habit
>>
>>18603173
>Why is space now a sphere?
What? I guess you are referring to the distortion caused by the wide angle lense. Do I really need to explain simple optics?

>Why does New Mexico cover half of the Earth?
But it doesnt. What are you on about? You cant even see half of the earth in that picture. That would be a whole hemisphere. You would have to be in a much higher orbit to see it that way.

Wow, seems like the questions you had were based on misconceptions and false expectations as always. Just like every other time a flatearther spotted a supposed "oddity". Please keep the buzzwords (you also dont know the meaning of) coming tho.
>>
>people actually believe in the flat earth
>I share my round world with these people

God damn either /x/ is one big larp or people need to start dying.

Jesus Christ. Is part of your job simply to infuriate us and waste our time? Heh, makes sense I guess.

No, explaining your misunderstandings and non sequiturs to you simpletons isnt making an argument. It is trying to teach highschool level education to adults. No, actually it is like talking to a wall.
Like how many times do we need to go over things like "hurr there arent stars in this picture with that large bright object in the foreground!" or simple laws of perspective until we can actually have an honest discussion about this. When will we actually hear something about the supposed flat earth theory? Because those threads are never about flat earth. They are always about explaining basics and denying reality

Youtube fucks shamelessly with the likes/viewers counters. It became apparent to /pol/ during the presidential period and I personally witnessed a visits counter going down after a page refresh, coincidentally it was a flat earth video. But this doesn't matter, they are just trying to buy time doing the only thing they know, perception management but they are weak and scared shitless.
>>
Riddle me this Globetrotters, you say you can't see the Earth's curvature and yet you also say that when you see a ship sink below the horizon it's due to the curvature. Which one is correct?
>>
>>18603370
Probably just a butthurt globehead modfag.

It is quite sad that most people simply refuse to look into it.

Flat earth is the ultimate pandora's box.

As long as you stay away from it, you can ridicule it and throw people under the bus for even bringing it up, but the time will come when _you will_ open it, and there is no coming back to the globe earth.

Right. They were sent a jersey for every team in the NFL. 32 of them. Which was explained in the actual video itself.

>how much does it cost?

About 27,000 per lb. Though crew are also allowed their own personal possessions up to a point. Furthermore, many resupply missions are commercial in nature, so the NFL may have paid for some of it, at least in part. Furthermore, jerseys double as clothing, which is a necessity.

Yes, the ISS has a few silly things on board, like bagpipes and a gorilla suit. But then again, there are humans on board, and they need to have fun and relax from time to time.

People actually despise/mock this idea BECAUSE they looked into it. There is always someone like you implying that this whole thing is much more complex and convincing than it appears. But then all there ever comes out of it are shitposts looping "u r shill" like a broke record and flat earthers contradicting each other and failing at even communicating the very basics of their theory. There is never someone having any kind of measurements or sharing observations that cant be explained better by the globe model. I'm just going to assume that this is flat earth general and post this here.

TL;DR: I made a specific prediction using both the flat earth model and the round earth model and the round earth model came out the winner.

https://www.desmos.com/calculator/yzvfzbvgzj

This is a mathematical model I created of the position of the moonlight shadow of a 1m high stick over the course of a lunar cycle. The thesis was that if the earth is a spinning ball, then the change in position of the observer relative to the moon over the course of twelve hours would cause a slight "wobble" in the moon's position. It would only amount to a degree or so (a centimeter on my measurement device). Small, but measurable nonetheless.

If the earth is a globe, then the wobble (which can be exaggerated or nullified by using the A variable slider in the linked graph) will be observed when tracking the moon's shadow over the course of a night. After the model was complete, I knew that if I observed a wobble, then the earth was a ball. If not the former, then the latter.

I stayed up all night with a friend and experimentally verified that my model was correct, and the wobble was apparent. It's official, the traditional flat earth model is FALSE. Even if you don't want to believe that my experimental data proves a round earth (even though the predictions were made specifically taking into account the earth's spherical shape) then at the very least it DISPROVES the current flat earth model.
>>
>>18603536
Nice experiment, mate. Sadly this is where flatfriends begin to deny reality.
Just watch:
>>
>>18603536
>The thesis was
>if the earth is a spinning ball ...
>If the earth is a globe ...

> After the model was complete, I knew that if I observed a wobble, then the earth was a ball. If not the former, then the latter.

the latter being a globe then. So either a ball or a globe.
>>
>>18603536

You could be making this up. You can set the numbers however you want to get your "prediction" to match up with reality.
>>
>>18603562

Shit man, my bad. If it's not obvious what I meant then let me clarify. I meant that if I observed a wobble then the earth is a ball. If not, then either it's not a ball or my prediction wasn't correct.

How are rockets supposed to work in a vacuum if all the thrust is instantly sucked without finding any resistance?
>>
>>18603499
You're wrong, actually.

The radius of the circle would be just above 300m. So really not a lot.

(Your height)/(Radius of ball) = (Altitude)/(Radius of earth)
>>
>>18603551
What reality? All I see here is a simulation.
>>
>>18603583

The demonstration video is a bad example because the vacuum machine does not only suck the jet of air out of the balloon, but it also creates an opposite thrust due to excess suction.

A rocket motor's ability fo work in a vacuum is demonstratable because all you have to do is imagine throwing a bunch of shit behind you. If you were in a shopping cart and you hurled a medicine ball behind you as fast as you could, you would move in the opposite direction. In the case of a rocket, the "medicine ball" is the literal tons of fuel per second that it hurls behind it fast as fuck (around 14 kilometers per second, actually). if you chuck a car behind you at literally 30 times the speed of sound, even if you yourself literally weigh 10,000 pounds you're going to have some serious speed at the end of the endeavor.
>>
>>18603594

A simulation that has been experimentally verified. If you want me to i will literally send a picture of the data that i collected.
>>
>>18603583
Because when the fuel travels out one side, it makes the craft go the other direction. Vacums make it come out faster and work more effectively.
>>
>>18603603
Do you have any proof that this data is accurate?
>>
>>18603600

>>
>>18603604

This is true. Atmosphere actually creates a negative pressure against the nozzle of the rocket, MAKING IT PERFORM WORSE. You can actually calculate out exactly how terrible your rocket will be depending on the atmospheric pressure as it flies the fuck off earth.

This is the reason that second stage rocket engines look different than first stagers. They're designed to work in a less pressurized environment, and they actually work better.
>>
>>18603600
>the vacuum machine does not only suck the jet of air out of the balloon, but it also creates an opposite thrust due to excess suction.
As opposed to the vacuum of space?

>If you were in a shopping cart and you hurled a medicine ball behind you as fast as you could, you would move in the opposite direction.
Completely different to how a rocket works.
>>
>>18603604
>Because when the fuel travels out one side, it makes the craft go the other direction
You mean it's not the actual explosion that creates the thrust but the mere movement of the fuel? That's actually funny xD

>>18603600
>but it also creates an opposite thrust due to excess suction.
that's how a vacuum works, Nature hates emptiness and sucks in order to level up. In the case of a hypothetical rocket in a hypothetical space pushing against an infinite emptiness, all the thrust would just be sucked just like this poor fuck

https://youtu.be/EjZ7Cb5WDLM?t=95
>>

I'm a fucking aerospace engineering grad student lol. I have literally done experiments MYSELF (Well technically with a team) where we measured the atmospheric pressure, calculated the internal pressure, and did all the calculations which we are all able to rederive ourselves from scratch. We literally measured to three significant digits the total thrust, instantaneous thrust per time, mass loss, mass flow rate, and exhaust velocity of our rocket motor. The math checks out: Atmospheric pressure decreases the thrust and efficiency of rocket motors of all types.

>>18603633

It's apparent you know nearly nothing about how rockets actually work. In rockets, the net movement of the fuel is one of the only sources of thrust. The pressure difference created by an explosion is negligible since the cross-sectional area of the rocket is not nearly enough to absorb a usable amount of force from the pressure gradient created by the explosion. The exact acceleration and thrust of the rocket can be calculated ignoring all producers of thrust EXCEPT the movement of the fuel. As the matter of fact.

>>18603623

The vacuum of space does not create a directional negative pressure gradient. thus, no thrust is produced.

> Completely different to how a rocket works.

It's literally EXACTLY how a rocket motor works. The main mode of thrust from a rocket is the fuel getting thrown out the back of the rocket. The velocity of the exhaust and the average mass of the velocity per second are used to precisely calculate the thrust of the rocket.
>>

If you're smart and you do well on the standardized tests (32 on the act) then you get to go to college and study whatever you want. I chose aerospace engineering because I've liked airplanes ever since I was a kid and I'm big into engineering and stuff. If you get more good grades then they let you into grad school where you get to work on shit that only a few people have ever worked on before.
>>
>>18603710

Do exact measurements from my various projects over the years count? If I know that my rocket will produce 2 kilonewtons of thrust over the course of two minutes isn't it safe to say that it will go about 100 or so Km up in the air?

We've been playing the game so long that by now we know that you don't actually have to go and experimentally verify EVERYTHING. Some things we can be sure about enough to extend our thinking and be nearly 100% sure that in a different scenario specific and predictable things will happen.

Nope.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Horizon#Curvature_of_the_horizon
>>
>>18603760

That formula only predicts the apparent curvature of the horizon, not the needed radius of a ball to create the same effect. Using my formula you get a much more reasonable answer.
>>
>>18603769
Your "formula" is just their ratios. It says nothing about the apparent curvature, which is what the question was about in the first place.
>>
>>18603769

Dude, you're straight up wrong. The answer of a ten-meter radius you gave was literally wrong as shit.

The actual computation of the exact amount of apparent curvature is irrelevant. What matters is the ratios.

With the formula from wikipedia i got 425.247

With my formula I got 424.733

This is why it's important to learn why formulas work instead of just plugging and chugging.

>buut anon the force involved is oriented outward not inward

The way you look at it doesn't matter, the underlying problem still remains the same. The vacuum of the hypothetical space doesn't offer any resistance and as a result you don't get any push back to propel your rocket, that very reaction force from which the name reactor was made.

As described by the third of Newton's laws of motion of classical mechanics,

>all forces occur in pairs such that if one object exerts a force on another object, then the second object exerts an equal and opposite reaction force on the first.

In your hypothetical empty space, there is no object hence as a result you get no reaction force, no thrust to propel your rocket.

I don't think we are clear on every detail of what I've asked.

I asked that you tell me if you have established theories and observations regarding the origin of the flat earth, understanding the purpose of the sun and the moon as well as what lies beyond the limits of the flat earth.

Not as in "Do you believe there is something", specifically as in "Have you observed what's out there?"

Have you tried studying the sun and the moon?
Are there people going to be exploring the out reaches? Has anyone planned on launching their own independant space craft to have accurate and unbaised observation of the world from above?

Are these not legit questions? If the earth is flat, then I think such questions only come naturally.

So the earth is flat, what does that imply for us? Where does it come from? How did it come into existence? What is our world?

Do you only care about being right or do you actually care to explore and study the unknown? Do you realize how important a discovery like this would be to the entire human race? >Are there people going to be exploring the out reaches? Has anyone planned on launching their own independant space craft to have accurate and unbaised observation of the world from above?

Do you not understand how ridiculous a demand this is? I bet there's tens if not hundreds of thousands, perhaps even millions of people out there who would love to be able to go out and see for themselves, but my god man, do you think we're all Richard Branson or something?

>So the earth is flat, what does that imply for us? Where does it come from? How did it come into existence? What is our world?

The realization that the world is flat has lead a lot of people to God, in one form or another. The globe Earth lead a lot of people away from God. Personally it has made me feel a lot safer and more comfortable in this world. We live on Terra Firma, and that is the surest thing you can rely on. Feels good, man.

>Do you realize how important a discovery like this would be to the entire human race? To be able to demonstrate without a doubt that the earth is flat to the entire world? Not just superstitious nerds on an image board, THE WHOLE FUCKING WORLD!

Wasn't too long ago that the world still believed this, and I bet there's still many people around the world who never stopped. Where do you suggest we go? If this is the response we get from superstitious nerds, how do you think the normies react?

Whether at sea-level, the top of Mount Everest, or flying a hundred thousand feet in the air, the always horizontal horizon line always rises up to meet the eye-level of the observer and remains perfectly flat.

You can test for yourself on a beach or hilltop, in a large field or desert, aboard a hot-air balloon or helicopter; you will see the panoramic horizon ascend with you right at eye level and remain completely flat all around.

If the Earth were actually a big ball, however, the horizon should sink as you ascend, not rise to your eye-level, and it would dip at each end of your periphery, not remain flat all around. Standing in a rising balloon, you would have to look downwards to the horizon, more and more the further you ascended; the highest point of the ball-Earth would be directly beneath you and declining on each side.

It is measured. Why are you so ignorant about your own conspiracy?

Eratosthenes measured the circumference of the Earth thousands of years ago using the relative angle of shadows.
The only way to explain his observations on a Flat Earth model would be if the Sun were much closer (roughly 3000k), and moved independently of the Earth

Yet basic trigonometry shows that the Sun could NOT be this close and still appear to disappear behind the horizon. Therefore the current flat earth model is flawed.

Do you disagree with any what I said?

I think the general idea is that there are no such thing as nuclear weapons. Nuclear weapons were just a myth to control and scare people during the cold war, huge conspiracy, yada yada yada.

And since there were no such things as nukes, that means Hiroshima and Nagasaki didn't happen. And therefore the U.S. didn't win. And therefore, "logically" Japan won. And that's why all those U.S. military bases are over there, because they're captured U.S. Armies. And Japan uses them for its own purposes. That's why they're rich. Yada yada yada.

Yes, nukes are a myth. Hiroshima and Nagasaki were still bombed to shit, but not by nukes. It still takes a good squadron of planes to carpet bomb a city, not a single bomber with the magical power of Thor's hammer in its fuselage. Here's a picture of Hiroshima after the bombing. Oh, wait. That's Tokyo after it was firebombed. My mistake, they look so similar.

Also, thanks for that interesting video. Never seen that one before. It's funny that they don't deny the existence of nukes or their use at Hiroshima and Nagasaki in the video. He talks about them as though they happened, just that they were a strategic failure. The video talks about Japan's successes in biological warfare and how America was completely undermanned in the Pacific and was going to need to send the rest of their forces from Europe through the Panama canal to reinforce them which the Japs knew and anticipated. Apparently the Japs were gonna destroy the canal with their submarines and even gave the US 2 of their subs just to show them that they could, leading the US to negotiate surrender. Very interesting, I suggest you watch it since you obviously haven't. I'll have to look into this stuff further!

Here's Hiroshima. Notice the lack of a single blast radius? Looks more like a carpet bombing, no? Even the footage in that video you posted proves there was no nuke at Hiroshima. The footage shows two distinct cloud plumes rising up in totally different places, even though there was only supposed to be the one bomb. You can see that they got the effect right in the Nagasaki bombing where it lines up to look like one single, larger explosion, but apparently they only had one take on that sucker.

I'm going to elaborate a little further. The whole modern scientific worldview is one that is meant to belittle the individual and deny them their birthright. We are the natural rulers of the Earth, it is our domain and we are its rightful heirs. The scientist will tell you that we are a cosmic accident at best and a harmful plague at worst. This ties into a lot of the current environmentalist psychosis where we are viewed as enemies of nature and not its greatest benefactors. There's a lot of anti-human, anti-individual and anti-freedom sentiment inherently wrapped up into this view of the world. It's really an effective means of spiritually disarming and controlling people.

We are not the rulers of this earth. We are imprisoned here for Adam and Eve's sins in the garden of eden. We're imprisoned here together with lucifer and are being tested. Those who prove their loyalty and follow God's rules are freed and those who follow lucifer will remain with him forever.

Maybe if there were more stars than space. And also if space weren't filled with interstellar dust.
>>
>>18607054
Photons are flying around from all sorts of sources in all directions. In a vacuum, there is no such thing as a ‘visible’ beam of light. We only detect (or see) a beam of light if there are other particles which can absorb the energy of any particular photon and just by pure chance, re-emit a comparable photon towards your detector (we can use your eye as a qualified detector).

Photons that do not interact with something just continue right on travelling and we will be completely unaware of their existence. Until they interact etc. etc.

Explained another way…..if photons were visible without interactions, all of space would look illuminated by the sun. Photons are flying out in all directions, but inspite of that we can still see total blackness of space everywhere except when our detector is pointed directly at the sun.

No, you fucking ape, when it bounces off of something and *then* hits your eyes.

Light has to bounce off of something or directly go into your eyes for it to be visible.
The sky is blue because of the interactions between light and the atmosphere.
The sky is dark at night (or rather, in space) because the majority of light emitted by a star does not hit your eyes.
You can't see the trail of light in space because it isn't reacting to anything, and the sky isn't constantly bright because there aren't enough stars for that.
Stars DO lose luminosity with distance because of redshifting. The farther it travels the more "red" it gets, eventually leaving the visible specrum.

I hope this was an adequate example, as I would rather not dig around for my "The universe in a nutshell" book to explain redshifting.

Notice how in the pictures with visible land-masses you can never see any stars and in the pictures with visible stars you can never see any land-masses. That's because it would take some serious effort to line the two up perfectly enough that there was no risk of any astronomers proving them to be bullshit with such concrete evidence as "the stars are all wrong".

I don't doubt they have the computer software to do it accurately today but this really stems back to when they had to make the decision with Apollo 11 whether they should risk going through all the effort of painting all those stars into the backdrop of their moon set with the same problem of astronomers calling them up on it, or just say "fuck it" and pretend you can't see stars when you're on the moon.
