Recently I've been thinking about trying to make an Ouija board. Are there any certain things I should do or include? What should I use for a planchette? Also, I read somewhere that you shouldn't ask the spirits about God or use a board while alone. What are the reasons for this?

You don't ask about God because that's like inviting the Hell's Angels over for beer and then bringing up cops, it's going to increase the tension level.
Using ouija by yourself is fine, ask for Capt. Howdy.

Using it alone means you might get possessed by a ghost or demon.
Asking about God has bad possibilities because demons and evil spirits HATE him for making their lives suffer.

However sometimes you may encounter a neutral ghost. All the demons are however 100 percent evil. You are opening a microphone to the spirits...sometimes a lot of different ones might try to hog the mic all at once. You never know who or what is present until you ask. It is spiritual Russian roulette.

Is there a way to control who comes up or prevent evil spirits from appearing?

You realize they're a fucking toy, right? The patent to them is owned by Hasbro.
I tried twice. All fairly recently.
I made one with sharpie and printer paper. Didn't work.
I wrote on an old wooden table with sharpie and used a shot glass as the planchette. Didn't work.
Is it worth purchasing one? Also, my roommates are scared shitless by it, so I'll be using it alone. I'm religious, I think I can handle it.

>implying if Ouija boards were hand-made by elves you'd be all, "OK, now their magic"

If you made two ouijas already, I say go and make a third.

I read that it's all a matter of intention. The first time, I was half-serious and kind of goofing about it with friends. Second time I was dead serious. Sat there for 20 minutes and nothing came of it.
Starting to think it really is just the ideomotor effect, and maybe I'm just not able to experience it...
