Well, when you kill yourself you waste a literally 1 in a billion opportunity that has been afforded to a ridiculously small percentage of all organisms that ever existed. Statistically speaking you should have been born as a cyanobacteria during the precambrian, but instead you were born as a conscious, sentient being in a technological modern era.

Now I'm not pretending to know your personal situation, I assume you must be super depressed or just have a super shitty life to want to commit suicide. But consider this: if you're gonna off yourself anyways, why don't you just expend all the energy and effort you can muster on something worthwhile? If it kills you then you will have accomplished your goal, but with the added benefit of having done something to be remembered - or at the very least get 'there was an attempt' inscribed on your tombstone.

To answer your main question though, nobody really knows. And unless there is an afterlife, there won't be any way to perceive your death after all brain activity has ceased - 'you' will simply cease to exist entirely. Suicide isn't a wise choice in life. Sure it has it's ups and downs but it isn't worth killing yourself over.

I know this sounds stupid and I literally can not prove this, but I can possibly give you the most sincere and "real" answer in here. When my grandfather, who I hadn't met or thought of for several years, died - The night he died, I had a dream, I saw where he died, how he died and what his last thoughts where. Of course, anyone would be like "Lol dumb dream" - But for some reason I was sure this dream was real.

When I woke up I went to my mom and she got a phone call shortly after I had woken up. She wanted to tell me something and was hesitating. I quickly stopped her and said "I already know" - I have NO IDEA why the fuck I said this. For some reason I was sure my dream was real. I asked her to reassure if I am right that my grandfather died of a heart attack, while sleeping on the sofa - I was right.

Since I am very sure that this was not a coincidence, here are the thoughts and feelings I experienced during this dream:

I was able to see him smiling, he was relieved and happy that he lived a fullfilled life. It was as if he had done his duty and was able to ascend and wanted to tell me this. It seemed like he wanted to tell me that he is ready to leave this world, because he wont regret what he's done with his life.

Naturally, I should've been creeped out by the dream as there was a fucking corpse in it - But for some reason - I felt happy in this dream. I felt happy for him.

I can't prove this stuff and you can just proceed and ignore this but I just love to share this story from time to time as this is the only paranormal thing that has ever happened to me in my life and I'll never forget it. It was really fucking weird and opened my eyes in some way. There seems to be more to death than I thought, maybe.. I don't know. I'm still thinking about it up until this day. This happened like 10 years ago.
