images/info/lore on bats and/or owls
The barn owl (Tyto alba) is the most widely distributed species of owl and one of the most widespread of all birds.

People who train raptors have told me that owls are a good "starter" bird. They're kind of like small dog breeds. Loud, easily startled but quick to warm up to anyone who feeds them or gives them affection.
You can make mistakes when you're training them because, well, they're kinda dumb. A hawk on the other hand will remember if you fuck up. Those things are smart and fucking vicious.
Barn owls are both one of the most widespread and thriving birds in North America and also provide ecological pest control.
Which is odd because the little shits seem to be native to Silent Hill.

Hail Prince Stolas!!

go back to gahool
Bats, being mammals, can carry rabies but other wise avoid humans when at all possible.
These will ruin your day if you scare it. Or if it's in a bad mood. Or if it's Tuesday.

Owls were the favored pet of Athena/Minerva the Goddess of knowledge. And are a common symbol of knowledge or wisdom because of it.

In South America among an ancient Mayan cult of the Quiche, located in the jungles of what is now Guatemala, Camazotz was a minor deity associated with bats. He was the God of the Caves and is described as having the body of a human with the head and wings of a bat. According to the Mayan sacred book of initiation rites Popul Vuh, he resided in the Bat-house located in the Underworld, a labyrinth of caves through which huge bats flew. While legends differ, he was responsible for the seventh test of initiation undertaken by the Mayan Hero Twins, the mythical Mayan ruling deities.

In the Popol Vuh, Camazotz are the bat-like monsters encountered by the Maya Hero Twins Hunahpu and Xbalanque during their trials in the underworld of Xibalba. The twins had to spend the night in the House of Bats where they squeezed themselves into their own blowguns in order to defend themselves from the circling bats. Hunahpu stuck his head out of his blowgun to see if the sun had risen and Camazotz immediately snatched off his head and carried it to the ballcourt to be hung up as the ball to be used by the gods in their next ballgame.

All I know about owls is that they never come out during the day because crows seek them out and harass them until they fly away

I actually saw this happen in my backyard . Also a few months ago there were 5 consecutive nights where an owl fly over my car while I was driving. What does it mean /x/? Possible spirit animal?

you just live around a lot of owls
>>18588193
many have already posted some but i'll compile it here.
- Owl of Athena (or Minerva, her syncretic incarnation in Roman mythology)
- Prince Stolas (Anonymous Grimoire about summoning demons and angels)
there is also some sort of connection with owls and aliens. some believing the owls face to be a substitute for the grey aliens face during alien abductions and others believing the connection to go deeper than just memory manipulation.
quick google search says owls have loads of different cultural meanings from places like Rome, Greece, Europe, England, India, Japan, Africa, Mexico, etc.
most shared beliefs see the owl as a symbol of death or wisdom, or even good luck.
people go through enough effort to carve etchings about the owl and make statues and totems, but don't overly focus on it.
probably for good reason?

Stolas is the correct answer. Stolas is always the correct answer.
