One of my favorite paintings. Everything about it oozes eerie. First is that 'thing' floating away from the house. But even that isn't what makes it so scary. I think the fact that shes on a farm in middle of nowhere, completely isolated and far from help really drives it home. Also some other details like the birds on the shed flying away as if startled. Not to mention that even the lighting on the house gives a sinister tone. Overall masterpiece I think.

the symbolism of the distorted skull in this has been the subject of some debate. obviously it was painted such that if the painting was hung up on the wall and you looked at it from an angle, the skull would be in proportion. but there are multiple theories as to why it was done that way.

Slightly mentally handicapped man who worked in unqualified jobs. When he died his landlord found thousands of pages of artworks and writing. A lot of the art is traced from old children's books, early comics etc. and the story is reminiscent of that as well but... weird. The heroes are a group of hermaphroditic little girls and there's a lot of mutilation and killing going on

The Collection d'Art Brut in Lausanne Switzerland is a fantastic experience, can't recommend it enough

pizzagate is a consequence of the same market for intense victim stories, as far as i can tell. Crime shows used to be about solving robberies or murder, few years ago i turned off one that had incest and necrophilia in the same episode.
Big challenge with making haunting imagery is to be haunting without stirring up too much interest. Beksinski does it well, Giger actually added something new to the world, but that Kim Noble is just rubbish.
