I don't even know what could be considered an offering. I made a neutrality pact with him through lucid dreaming, but that's about it. Once I did that the nightmares stopped completely, unless I sleep on my back. If I do choose to sleep on my back there's a 100% chance of me waking up with a sleep paralysis, but surprisingly enough the hallucinations are never scary. I'm able to lay on my back for hours just enjoying the view.

I have a recurring crocodile dream. Used to see tiny dinosaurs as a child. Wondering if it is a metaphor, or spirit animal now.

In the dream, I am a child with my cousins and friends. We are in a pasture nearby where we grew up. On other ends of the pasture are access points to the river, but where we are at there is a cliff and briars. Without warning I run through the pasture towards the cliff, jump over the briars, plunge through the air, and into the river. In the river there are dozens of huge crocodiles. My cousins are yelling, pleading for me to come back, already grieving my death. But I as I bob up in the river, the crocodiles welcome me as one of their own. My cousins and friends on the cliff bank unceremoniously turn away one by one, knowing I have gone over to the crocs.

As mentioned above, the same dream plays over throughout my adult life. I went back to the river with my brother once, (moved away from home, new owners of pasture). Saw a fairy dancing along rapids of river. So there's that.

Is it possible for one's spirit animal to be an extinct species, or something purely of the spirit world? I have seen glimpses of it while dreaming, and while vision tripping while fasting, and using large doses of LSD. It is something in proportion longer in proportion and lower to the ground than a bear, bigger than any black bear that I've seen. But I've only seen it in the dark, in silhouette against starlit ground cover. It is terrifying, I know that it is a predatory animal, when I have dreamed that I am one, I know that I have claws (paws front and back) which I grip and gore my prey with, but kill with my bite, but I am a lazy, ambush predator by heart. I always feel like a spider in a web, when I am dreaming I am the thing, or like the creature caught in the web or trying to avoid the web when I am encountering it in my own form.

Part of me really is curious what it is, but ultimately I know it doesn't matter. I know it is, and I feel in tune with it now, no longer feel the fear I once felt, I mean there is still some element of fear that it deserves out of respect, but not the unreasoning terror I felt in my first nightmares...

Perhaps it's not a spirit animal at all, but rather a spirit plain and simple. Whatever the case, it has helped me understand a lot about myself, my weaknesses and fears and my strengths, and how to face my flaws and overcome them, so it has been invaluable to me. So that is what has mattered.

I often dream of spiders and i thought because I fear them but when I read up about them as spirit animals it kinda makes sense.

Oh fuck. That kind of actually explains a dream I had a while back, which has stuck with me like something in my craw, and bothers me so much that I've actually told other people about it. In my dream I was kneeling in a flooded yard, water about an inch and a half or so deep. To my right was a crow, and boy do I fuckin' love crows. They're social, smart, resourceful, funny, and basically all the things I love about myself. To my left landed what, in my mind I was calling a hawk, but when I woke up and looked at its markings was an eagle (golden, I think). Suddenly the crow was both dead in my hands and standing to my side. I had to make a choice of whether to sacrifice the crow to the hawk/eagle, or continue to be the crow. In the dream, I think I somehow picked both? But I've continued to live like the crow, but I feel like I should have chosen the eagle.

Did I fuck up? Can I bring the eagle back, or did by snubbing it permanently eject it and the opportunities it offered from my life?

Snakes pop up a lot in dreams, and strangely enough a lot in real life in my childhood. I've managed to step on rather large ones on two separate occasions without any harm somehow, they did bound up in cautious striking mode though.
I dream of sharks a lot as well, usually floating in small rooms with no water. They scare the shit out of me though.
I'm not sure how these two could relate to being spirit animals though.
