never saw serbian film or anything like that. hostel was enough for me, it pushed the gore far enough that it stopped even being a proper grossout and just became kinda sordid and depressing.

tough to say, but odishon and berberian sound studio immediately come to mind. I did enjoy them both. odishon was more asian horror-y/gory, berberian sound studio was more mindfuck.

The acting in it is... apparent at times. It's not that scary or fucked up, you'll be able to sleep at night. They get the documentary-feel about it right.

As an avid horror fan, I'd say my desensitization has escalated over the years. What was scary to me then, is not scary to me now. However, Martyers (the original French version) is pretty intense from start to finish. Same with the other great French film Inside. Great gore factors.

I don't remember the last movie that made me think "oh this is fucked up" or gave me trouble sleeping. Probably Child's Play back when I was 4.


I've given up on looking for scary movies. And super gory ones, to me are sort of boring. I'm not being super edgy saying "HURRR I'M 2 HARD CORE FOR GORE". They usually have no plot and the gore is supposed to replace an actual cohesive storyline.


I will say that the move Event Horizon did have a good balance of everything though. I just think it is a great movie.

I'm a fan of horror or even rough, raw and brutal psycho torture movies of all kinds, including gore or mental trauma tragedies etc. so I came across the Poughkeepsie Tapes and gotta say I was extremely disappointed with it.

Like low budget, shitty acting, shitty camera, shitty storytelling and so on. Would rate it 2/10 and never watch this waste of a time again. It's weird to me that people think it's an actual good movie. It's not.

Contracted is honestly the most fucked-up movie I've ever seen. I can handle shit like August Underground and your typical gorefest horror movie, but Contracted made me puke. My old roommate had to take a break from it halfway through when he watched it. Basically, it's about a girl who gets date-raped by a corpsefucker and gets a freaky STD that makes her decompose while alive. There's shit like fingernails falling off into salads in a restaurant kitchen and maggots falling out of her vag... It's pretty messed up.

its ok, a solid 7 or 8/10 if im being generous. There are some serious plot holes but unless youre incapable of turning your autism off it shoudnt bother you. The premise is pretty creepy and so is the story. im not ashamed to admit it did creep me out. Its about as scary as you can get without going into gore pron territory

Clean, Shaven was pretty fucked up, psychology-wise.
There's also a movie called Vermillion Eyes which reminded me of Clean Shaven but way more fucked.

Love this movie, you should totally check it out.

/x/ isn't that good for opinions, though. Horror is inherently subjective, and you'll find conflicting opinions on every single horror movie around here. You might still get some great recommendations, though, just be skeptical of them.

I personally haven't been scared by a horror movie in a long time, but the final minutes of the new Blair Witch, and some portions of Lords of Salem came close. Paranormal Activity got to me back in the day, but you really need to be in the right mindset for that to work, and I think the excessive sequels were detrimental to the franchise.

Not sure any of these can be considered the 'most fucked up', though.

It's fucked up in the sense that Serial Killers have and do exist. But it's not fucked up like say ギニーピッグ Ginī Piggu, the Guinea Pig fake snuff series. Its depressing but if you've seen the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre (for example) and slept like a baby you will be fine.
