The early PS3 commercials for adult swim. What the fuck where they? Do you ever go back to adult swim and look at all the stuff they put out back then? Kids weren't supposed to see it. But I did. Since childhood.

This is why they say tv stints your growth. They don't want you knowing what they know. Need to respect your elders right?

Somehow finding out it was probably just an orangutan didn't make it less scary.

Like shit if I run into a pissed off orang-utan in the swamp that stinks of shit I don't see why it'd be less scary because I could identify it as an orang-utan.

Now, I go to /gif/ and watch a lot of gore stuff that are much worse without feeling discusting or anything, but by some reason this video is still pretty hard for me to watch. I just cant

The French television series Belphégor traumatised a whole generation of kids in the late 60s in Europe. I guess people didn't pay attention to what the kids saw. This was when there was a channel monopoly.

The ghost looks like a nun, so the kids were scared when they saw nuns.

I've got some stories from a family member if annyone wants to hear.

The whole series is about an Egyptian ghost at the Louvre.

So you may not think this apply but when i was in college my philosophy of film teacher was this hippy tripy dude and i would always show up late to his lectures and ask the most random questions and to give you refrence we spent half the semester talking about triumph of the will and how it sparked almost all other cinema from how it was shot...So i show up one day late as always and he gives me this DVD and says i have a gift for you now he didnt give anyone else anything and they all wanted to know what it was and this was when i was an adult and let me tell you this fuckin guy knew what he was doing he said i know you will like this your strange. It was his sick and twisted way of giving me nightmares granted i respect the makers of the work and the effort it takes to make it but the films are artsy fucking nightmares that creep me out to this day i lost the dvd some time ago but i will never forget them and now i share with you who dont know about the masters of stop motion https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dtT3e3exJA0

Think I was thirteen when I was looking through computer files on the family computer. Came across a file that was called "gnarly." Opened it and it was the video of two people in militant clothing sawing at a guy's throat. The sound- it took me forever to figure out why someone would do such an awful thing to another human. I seriously thought it everyday- sometimes multiple times a day.

Kind of a rude awakening to the ugliness of the world.

I loved the hell out of this movie as a kid. The part of that segment where the girl has no mouth spooked me much more, though.

Also I always have this strange slightly creepy distracted feeling whenever I see a fishbowl or fishtank in film or television. Maybe it's because I can't help thinking it looks so clean that they probably filled it just before taking the shot, or wondering if it was chosen for the purpose of symbolism. It comes up surprisingly a lot.

That segment is based on the episode where the guy is turned into a monster jack in the box with a human head. And they also have a segment using the original episode's jump scare where a guy looked whips up a window curtain and a gremlin pops out. Twilight Zone had monsters and jump scares, they just happened to be done tastefully and with the limited technology of the day.

This guy, when I was about three years old.

There's something really unnerving in how malicious the character is in comparison to pretty much every character on the show. He permanently cripples trains by punting them off bridges, almost killing two of the main characters by throwing them into a smelter in the movie.

Even just the fact he has a metal-crushing claw, a way to physically interact with the other trains that they can't stop, freaked me the hell out. He would chase them all around the island and if he could get them in a place they couldn't run away he'd threaten to take them apart piece by piece, like a murderer steadily dismembering a bound captive. All of this was apparently toddler-okay.

Well, it's less confusing considering the chimp didn't just pop out of nowhere, but lived on the property and the caller is the owner of the chimp and property. The woman being attacked is a friend that was over for a visit and knew about the chimp and had met him before. So it's a little comparable to a family pet suddenly going crazy and attacking someone, only this one is super strong and has two sets of hands.

The scariest part is the aftermath, when the victim had to live for a couple years afterwards with no face before she finally got some plastic surgery and a face transplant. I'm not posting the picture because I hate looking at it and /x/ doesn't have spoilers, but you can google it. She appeared on Oprah once pre-surgery.

Stuff that messed you up as a young 'un, eh?

Well, I don't remember the name of the cartoon (could have been Arthur, the animated series?), but I'll tell you what I do remember -

It was a dream episode, there were all these weird purple bubbles containing bad dreams, and two people ended up getting chased by what appeared to be an anthropomorphic cucumber.

There was also a series of children's books, in which the main villain had a rotten apple in place of a head.

I'll give my eternal gratitude to whoever can identify the haunter of my dreams these last 25 years.

Spooky waifus in return.

This is something my mom told me.
She lived in an industrial city (the Chicargo of the North) in an Scanidnavian country.
There was only one channel on the telly, so basically everyone, including kids, saw it.
She can only remember fragments of the series. Belphegor rising from the bottom of a well, and pushing a wheel chair bound man off the Eifel tower. (Lol)

The kids were very scared, said they saw Belphegor i the city. A girl carried a kitchen knife for protection. They were even scared of nuns -but the nuns thought it was hilarious.

This city has a lot of viaducts and small bridges that a very dark and casts a lot of shadows - even when I was a kid i was scared of them and i have never been scared of the dark.

When I think of it I se a bunch of scared 10 yr olds walking around this creepy town with knives to protect themselves from a french television ghost.

And the theme is super creepy.

Btw the whole series is on YT, but i don't understand french, so I havent watched it. But the commentary is full of anecdotes from europeans who were taumatised when they saw this as kids.

the kid who controlled everyone because if he got upset he would fuck them up. I remember watching this while tripping. It ruined me
>>
waking up at 4am and hearing this shit directly outside your windows when you're 8 years old and so paralyzed by fear that you can't go get your parents so they can explain what it is fucked me up pretty good

me too I just liked it for the same things and I barely spoke English.
But there was one scene that kind of spooked me wit the big white face in the basement.
>>

I would think about this guy while trying to fall asleep at least a year after watching the episode. I'm not sure what about him sacred me so much, but I didn't watch star trek again until middle school.

I feel you on this shit.

Playing Dark Forces 2 as a kid, these assholes scared my balls off. The surface of water is 100% opaque in alot of places, so you can't see what's below the surface until you jump in. Suddenly you've got one of these things that's completely silent and totally still, until it starts flailing tentacles at you.

I'd cheat-skip any levels these were in haha

Thanks, anon.

>fall asleep one night on the chair in the living room with dad
>dad always fell asleep on the couch anyways
>wake up in the middle of the night, dad is asleep
>one of the hellraiser movies is on
>nope the fuck out and run into my room
>hear dad change the channel and start snoring again.

god damn fuck this dude.

Now that was an underrated game.
>>
Staying at a friends house one night, we saw a man looking into his bedroom window watching us vidja. Friend's parents didn't believe us. That shook me up quite a bit.

>>18568206

That half second of harpy tits was more unsettling to me than sexy.

This comforts me that I wasn't alone in this. It strikes at the primal fear of sudden loud noise and fast motion.

Its a fucking terrifying jingle! What the hell were they thinking? Old episodes of The Brady Bunch are ruined for me.
>>
>>18555034
I think I saw this movie around that age, but around that time I had already watched Nightmare on Elm Street and Childs Play. Shit still scared the fuck outta me.
