Ok this it's a long story.

This place it's my aunts house.

She has lived in this desert her whole life, in the midle of nowhere, she has a restaurant in there, but the story it's about his son.

His son it's one of 33 miners that were trapped in a mine in the Chilean desert

When that happened I barely knew him, but I was close so I went with my aunt to wait until they got them out, they were trapped inside the mine for 69 days.

When he got out, they made them stars so I didn't see him in long while, but one summer we meet again in that house in the desert.

We drank some beers and he told me that they weren't alone down there, there was someone else in there, living underground.

We call them by many names, but we are never sure about them, normally you only see a shadow or something going very fast, but he seemed quite sure.

All miners say the same, that they weren't alone down there, but they brush it off with the typical response, "we knew our families were waiting for us".

But he told me that something lives down there, and they don't want to be disturbed.

Inside the mine, they could hear them at first, they obviously tought that they were going crazy.

But they felt that something was watching them from the dark, the days passed underground and despair got to them, some wandered in the dark, there it's when they started to notice them.

Talking about it keep them sane, somehow they managed to remain calm and rational, miners are used to the dark and the confinement, but nothing could prepare you for this.

I'll never be sure if this happened, I wasn't down there, but he talked about them like they were very real and they are still there.

He told me that they were afraid at first, with time they got used to the presence of those little people of the underground.

Haven't seen my uncle since, then I find out about the Atacama humanoid and it made perfect sense to me.

They're pretty popular in Peru. They call them something different (no shit) but it's them.

I tend to believe that folktales are created and sustained because they serve a social function. 9 out of every 10 folktales I've read about little people end with humans being kidnapped, robbed, or killed. Gnomes in particular don't seem benevolent, just reclusive.

It's also possible that people have mistaken moles and other burrowing creatures for gnomes and dwarves.

Fellow Swede here.

I live in the countryside and I have to take a pretty long bus ride every morning to get into town.
The bus goes through all the rural little communities/neighborhoods/villages/whatever you call them scattered around the forest, then heads to the city.

Anyway so after about one hour into the ride you pass a place where the road takes a turn around a small hill and on that hill someone has taken the effort to place probably something around 50 garden gnomes. They've been standing there since I started riding the bus several years ago. Pretty creepy.

Just like some here say, he walked sideways but had his head turned toward where he was going. He side stepped along the shadows to our koi pond and when he got to it he seemed to bend down, gather water in his hands or maybe a bowl , then side stepped back to the tree.

When I turned 15, we stopped cattle and started with chickens. Our dog died, so mom stopped leaving the leftovers outside. We had chicks being raised in a wooden box which was in a CLOSED IN porch. We made sure foxes or hawks or snakes couldn't get in.
A week before they would be ready to put into the actual coup, something killed every one of them in one night. Thier bodies were just gone, no blood, only a few feathers.
We checked every nook and cranny, there was no way someone or somthing got in the porch without unlocking the door.
My dad was pissed, so angry in fact he got a new guard dog , really cool blue heeler . Leftovers started getting left out side again. Never saw or had any trouble since then. In all seriousness Dwarfs in various folktales and mythologies are infamous for their supernatural strength.

I've told this story before on here but I'll tell it again. The only weird thing I've Ever seen was when I was 15. I live in the states in the south and one night I was walking around a neighborhood on the side walk when the rustling of leaves and some movement caught my attention in someone's yard. I turned to look at whatever was moving and at first i thought it was a puffy white cat or something. But when i got a good look at it I froze in bewilderment/terror. It was a motherfucking garden gnome doing that weird sidestep thing and he was making his way from the front yard along the side of the house to the back. It felt like when you accidentally get to close to and animal and they just kind of get startled and retreat to keep their distance. I ran away after a couple seconds cause it freaked me the fuck out. It didn't feel real watching something like that thing and the way it moved was so fucking weird. It was to small to be a midget and to fluid to be a robot or toy. I think it's more logical to say I was having a stress hallucination or som thing but I was in a sober state of mind and I saw it clear as day, still the brain is capable of some weird shit sometimes so I don't know.

Not said swedish poster, but I'm finnish and we also have our folklore about gnomes/tomtes. Here they were mainly seen as sort of ancestor spirits, keeping the homesteads safe and occasionally helping out with tasks in exchange for thank you-gifts or offerings like food or keeping the sauna on for a little longer so that they could "use" it after the people had had their go.

Sure they could be angered by certain things and could wreck shit, but generally calmed down quite quickly.

in Iceland the existence of the 'hidden people' (huldufolk) is taken as a matter of fact, and cities will even build highways around rocks where they are supposed to be living.

Jacques Vallee and John Keel both wrote a lot of books with the thesis that what we know of as abduction experiences are actually just humans briefly entering into altered states of consciousness where we are capable of perceiving creatures and events occurring in this alternate material density. it seems to have an effect on our space/time continuum- accounting for missing time/slowed down time.

Personally I think that there's a rational explanation for all of this and that in the next 20-50 years science will be able to explain everything. It's probably already well understood by governments but classified so as not to disturb the majority of the population.

I have two stories about gnomes/elves/huldufolk from my trip to Iceland a few years back:

the first came when we were walking around Thingvellir, which is the place where the ancient Icelandic parliament (basically) would convene every year. It's also the meeting point of two tectonic plates, so basically where Europe and America meet geologically speaking. Off to one side is a trail with a lot of placards explaining the history of the place, and on the other is a canyon where most tour groups don't go. I decided to walk down the less-traveled path on my own, while my family went on the guided tour. It was deserted and I enjoyed the peaceful walk, very beautiful. The only strange thing was that I felt like I was being watched- I figured it was the elves, but I made sure to watch where I was stepping and to act respectful.

After what I thought was about 15 minutes, I turned back and retraced my steps. Eventually I ran into my dad, and he was freaked out. I asked him what was wrong- I had been gone for an hour and a half! My perception of time had been vastly distorted. I don't really know what that means, but it was weird.

The second story, and much more dramatic, came when we were visiting Dettifoss, which is the highest-volume waterfall in the world or some shit. It's the place where the white guy disintegrates and falls into the water in Prometheus. Crazy fast-moving, high-volume waterfall, just torrential. If you fall in you're fucked basically.

So my sister and I were standing on the edge and taking pictures like tourist retards, and she told me 'scoot over a little bit so I can get the waterfall in the frame.' I took a small step to the left and felt myself begin to slip on the wet rocks. Of course, it was about 100 feet straight down into the raging river. I would have been dead, and I felt myself begin to slip backward.

And then I felt the strangest thing- as though I was being supported from behind by invisible hands that pushed me forward.

To this day I am 99% certain that because of my respectful conduct while exploring the territory of the hidden people in Thingvellir and near the beach in Vik (for those of you who have travelled Iceland) I was saved from certain death by falling into the waterfall. I felt myself begin to slip, and I felt myself be lifted by invisible hands and saved.

I hear a lot about the sketchy behavior of gnomes and elves, and I believe it- but I think perhaps the way they treat you depends on the purity of your heart and the respectfulness of your conduct in their presence. Take that as you will.

One thing I'm interested in is how children seem to be more talented or open to seeing these beings. I'm not sure exactly what this means- perhaps as we age, we become less sensitive to these energies? Certainly there are more cases of children encountering little people or mysterious creatures.
