I live in a small village in Ireland and I sleep on the ground floor, I sleep under my window with no curtains and I keep the window propped open every night even in the winter.

In all honesty OP, I wouldn't be worried.

I would stake out the car overnight the next night, but that's it.. Maybe peek out the window occasionally throughout the next week.

If you're that worried, it doesn't hurt to put in a police report, they might bump up the patrolling in your neighborhood. You could also talk to your neighbors and see if the same thing happened to any of them.
