Greetings, and welcome to The /x/ Files, the weekly news digest for 4chan's Paranormal board. I am The Editor, the anonymous creator of this idea and collector of the news that will be following below. In the interests of legitimacy, I will be using a secure tripcode to post the thread; once the posts are completed, I will take the tripcode off and return to my anonymity.

How to Appease Household Spirits Across the World

If you’re lucky, you can live in a home where a hairy little household imp will help keep your kitchen clean, or a domestic god will grant you everlasting good fortune. So long as you keep them happy. From ancient Greece’s goddess of the hearth, Hestia, to the hobs of Northern England, household spirits have been around for centuries. But most such mythical creatures double as gods of fire and agents of chaos, so failing to tend to their needs can lead to missing items, broken dishes, and calamitous fortune.

As you prepare your home for the holidays this year, here are some tips on how to keep particular household spirits in good standing.

Expanded Perspectives: Oh Gnome You Didn't

On this episode of Expanded Perspectives the guys start the show talking about they’re favorite Holiday drinks and then in Italy, the legend of La Befana is one that is popularly told around the time of the Epiphany. What does a Catholic holiday have to do with modern Paganism? Well, La Befana happens to be a witch. Then, Researchers at Oregon State have patented a new strain of seaweed that tastes like bacon when it’s cooked. Then, Kyle brings up two strange Humanoid sightings where in both cases they were wearing some sort of shinny one piece suits. Then, Cam brings up an interesting account. A hunter and his cousin were out hunting near Johnson City, TN and were sitting on the side of the wall of a rather large hollow. All of the sudden they heard the brush in the hollow below rattling and they could tell that whatever was making the sounds was rather large. What appeared before them was a three horned man beast. After the break Cam brings up some fascinating Gnome sightings from different parts of the world.

Astonishing Legends: Second Chances

Sometimes we get a second chance and sometimes it seems we had no chance at all. What we can count on getting is a cycle of the heartwarming followed by heartbreak, the mundane punctuated with despair and assuaged by moments of joy. But greater than our earthly concerns, the cycle of life continues. Birth follows death as spring follows winter. And within this cycle, every once in a while just to keep it interesting, the wondrous happens. Whether you view the seemingly impossible as merely a coincidence, as a mistaken observation, or as proof that miracles do happen and that love never dies the choice is up to you. Which one sounds like more fun?

Blurry Photos Podcast: Runes

Untie the pouch of mysticism and new agery with Blurry Photos with an episode all about Runes! An ancient system of divination originating in Germania and Scandinavia, the casting of Runes is the practice of gaining insight through symbols of power. But where did it come from? Where does it derive its power? And how much faith can one put in interpretation of a bastardized alphabet on rocks? Flora and Stecco look at the history of the practice, how it’s supposedly done, and even try their hand at casting and interpreting. What do the stones have in store for them? More importantly, can they stand up to scrutinization?

For centuries various groups claimed they'd discovered the remnants of Noah's Ark, the legendary wooden ship of Biblical fame. Despite controversy, skepticism and numerous dead ends, the search continues into the present day. And, what's more, several Ark hunters believe there's a conspiracy afoot -- the secular world knows the Ark is real, they argue, but work to suppress the truth. Why?
