It would seem to me that human nature would, without this system, become tribal and warlike. As humans have always done. And would either envy, despise, religiously condemn, whatever, these machines and people.
He mentioned they had no military, but had hidden weapons that could deflect an alien invasion. Or at least defend itself.
I don't buy it. I like the story, and it's interesting. There are certainly some plausible concepts.
