This honestly, there's ten thousand ways to ward a house, given that you're asking here, you probably aleady have some ideas of what is "correct" or what vibes with you. What do you think is "magical" to protect against general supernatural bad shit? There are many many protective spells, charms, wards and practices, but how you feel about the protective magic is extremely important so that you don't sabotage it yourself. I think it was on /pol/, a few weeks ago someone had an innawoods thread and someone posted a ton of PDF books, like how to make makeshift weapons, how to pick locks, etc. all this crazy cool shit and then some that I don't even wanna type out. They were old books scanned onto PDFs, I dont think the more controversial books in that dump could even be made today without the FBI probing through your life.. But I wish I kept the link. Had some interesting and useful shit for all means of survival...

I went to school with a Chippewa full blood in the 90s (Jay). His grandpa (Red) would take us on pretty fun adventures in the woods, we did Thunder Bay, Huron, Manistee a bunch of other Parks. I only saw Red scared once, I'll tell that story now.

Being both /k/ and /x/ here are my suggestions.

-Bring some cold iron with you. Doesn't matter what it is, just bring it and keep it with you. It'll keep those faggot faeries and brownies away.
-Consider rock salt shotgun shells for any incorporeal threats. You probably won't need them but they'll be fun to make.
-I always thought it would be cool to cut crosses or pentagrams on the nose of flatter bullets like .38 Special and other rimmed cartridges. Again, it's probably unnecessary.

The cold iron should take care of any mischievous forest faggots and good old brass and lead should take care of anything that can literally tear your asshole out. There's always the possibility of things like demons or ghosts but decent warding should deal with that. Basic shielding and pentagrams.

The biggest things you'll have to worry about it there regarding spoopery is wood spirit type stuff. Also Manitou are a common thread in first nations folktales around those parts.

Some folklore suggests steel items work as well but iron is the original. Cold iron is poetic for just standard iron, not steel. The fair folk have a history of detesting the stuff and it's thought to dampen some forms of magic.

this is one possible interpretation, the other is that "cold iron" is meteoric or iron rich mineral that is either heated very little, or not at all, before being pounded into shape.

There's no real clear answer as to what the old references mean, but given that meteoric or naturally occurring iron is very difficult to just beat into a shape without proper forging, its probably a colloquialism like anon said.

I'm from Pennsylvania and the Germans brought hex signs with them during the big immigration. Hex signs can be wards for many different things, but the farmers there still use them. We had a horse ranch and my grandmother, whom is of Iroquois descent, used hex signs on our barn. It is true that you need to believe in your wards for them to work. Its some type of faith magic.

The best thing you can do is set up cameras and have them record constantly.

Spookers avoid active cameras like the plague. People sometimes have their cameras with them during a sighting but the things always seem to disappear when they start recording and they never seem to walk into frame when people are recording something else.

If only they didn't have this superpower we'd have some real evidence of their existence. Crafty cryptid bastards!
