Hello anon.

I've actually been reading a great book that goes into tons of depth about this subject;
"The End of the Present World and the Mysteries of the Future Life" by Fr. Charles Arminjon (1800s).

He theorizes (he is always distinct between what we know from the bible and what he's just guessing) that there will be an extended period of grace and peace for the Roman Catholic Church after Jesus destroys the Antichrist with "the breath of his mouth" (more on that later). There is some disagreement about this, and either way, all of the interesting stuff would be preceding this renaissance anyway, so let's focus on that.

First, the characteristics and build up of the Antichrist.

1) He will be utterly and thoroughly evil, through and through. Never will he once commit the slightest good act nor will he fail to perform his evil acts in their superlative extent and execution. Just as Jesus was born without sin and never committed the slightest sin, the Antichrist will never commit the slightest good.

2) The Antichrist will have extraordinary capabilities in a host of categories. He will very most likely be an incredible speaker (he will have the scriptures memorized at birth as a special antigift for him to fulfill his dark mission). He will probably be incredibly seductive, tempting, violent, good at war, rich, inspirational, mad with passion, whatever. Every single trait that would endear him to people of this world, and aid in his path to unify them against the Church, he will have. Just imagine the insanity of Nero combined with the military prowess of Napoleon and every other trait pushed to the max. He will excite the worldly passions of men like no other, in order to bring them suffering and demise.

3) He will despise all religions, and especially Christ's true Church, the One Holy Roman Catholic and Apostolic Church. Saints and martyrs have been quite clear that saints and martyrs greater than they are yet to come in the end times.

3) the violent means by which this spawn of satan will dispatch Christians to Jesus will be worse and more unbearable than the violence endured by martyrs past. The temptation to submit to him would be irresistible under normal circumstances, but these saints will be given special grace from God to deal with the special madness they find themselves in.

4) The Antichrist will corrupt sexual morals in the utmost. Not a lot to say about this. It will be one of a host of temptations he will provide, which, combined with the pressure and threat of murder at his hands, will make it all the more tempting to join him.

5) The Antichrist will conquer the world and rule from Jerusalem.

6) The Antichrist will be born of a Jewish mother, probably the result of adultery or fornication.

7) The Jews will mistake the Antichrist for their savior. Only upon witnessing the depths of his depravity will some of them finally realize that the world is approaching its climax and that they must shroud themselves in Jesus in order to be saved. Many Jews will finally accept Jesus as their Savior. Many Christians and bishops will happily delude themselves and pretend that the Antichrist is Jesus.

8) The Antichrist will perform anti-miracles. They bear that prefix because true miracles involve two things:
a. an unbelievable amount of grace from God
b. a drastic change from the normal reality that would have continued forward

His "miracles" will have neither of these qualities, and as such will be lies, like every other act of his life. One astounding example is that in one major battle, he will seem to be fatally struck in the head from his golden chariot, but he will rise, seemingly from the dead. (Given that it is an anti-miracle, the truth is that he never died).

9) God will send Elija and Enoch to the world as special messengers of hope and peace in such trying times. These two ascended to heaven and as such have yet to experience death.

9) These two have not yet left their bodies have also been shrouded by God from all experience of suffering and woe for the past 3000+ years and counting. They will be granted a special window into human souls in order to convince new followers to abandon this world and hope for Christ.

10) The Antichrist will reign for a certain number of days (I can't remember how many) that amounts to 3+ years (like 3 years and 3 or 4 months). Toward the end, the only Christians not in hiding will be these special messengers, Elija and Enoch, and they will stand outside the city zealously encouraging all to abandon their wicked ways, and, undaunted, reminding the wicked of their fate and tha Antichrist's lies. Near the end, they will finally die, and there will be much rejoicing in the city. However, on the third day, mimicking the Son of their Creator, they will be risen up. This will strike fear into the hearts of those who've betrayed God and they will know their fiery end is near.

11) God will purify the earth suddenly with fire. This will not be a death that allows time for a change of heart, forgiveness, or peace, and without those, a chance at salvation. The wicked must know, deep in their hearts, that they abandon their eternal reward by following the Antichrist.

12) The Antichrist will successfully conquer the entire world, and in doing so, will essentially destroy the Church. There will be pockets of Christianity, but they will be unable to perform the sacrifice of the Mass. Still, some will be divinely protected and hidden from the Antichrist.
