Hey, /x/.
Tonight I was at a party, sitting around with a bunch of friends. There were two dogs hanging with us, including one like pic related, named Ted. Ted was pretty chill and barked once or twice when newcomers came in, but no more. Then, when this one person entered, he wouldn't stop barking. This dude put out his hand to the dog, who nipped at it.. something he certainly did not do with anyone else. The dog did not stop barking, and was eventually brought out of the room.
My question is this: What is up with this guy that provoked such a response? What did the dog know from across the room as soon as this dude opened the door?
Also, general stories of freaky shit that dogs can sense.
>>
>>18387201
The guy might have a similar scent to something the dog has bad memories associated with.
>>
>>18387234
That'd make sense, but he started barking from all the way across the room. Like when the guy first opened the door to the basement space we were in.
>>
>>18387201
I dont know OP< but I always trust animals instincts on this shit, they've never steered me wrong. If the dog is distrustful, theres a reason, if theyre outright agressive, there's a reason. if theyre chill and friendly, there's a reason.

Cat's do it to.

The animals fuckin know man, they know.
>>
>>18387270
I am absolutely inclined to agree. That's why it struck me, and I'm really curious about what kind of thing would set the pup off so much.
>>
>>18387270
>hurr durr dogs r so smart
>hurr durr it definetley isnt because my dog is simply retarded
>>
Did the person have different color soon? Your dog could be rascist bruh
>>
>>18387259
>dog having really good sense of smell
>>
My dog went nuts around one guy in particular, fast forward a few months the guy was caught and arrested for heroin
>>
>>18387201
Dogs are fucking stupid. Some dogs loves me, some hate me, some have even humped me. They have stupid animal brains they do whatever they feel like all the time. It probably had nothing to do with the guy dog out over excited with all the people around and he was the straw that broke the camels back.

Basically the dog was a cunt. Possibly racist. For some reason the dog just wanted to bully this person. Think nothing of it. It's exactly like when a human is mean to someone, do they think they're actually a demon or some shit? No, they just don't like them.
>>
>>18387392
>>18387504
Nah, everyone in the room was white.

>>18387463
interesting. I know this guy is rather a psychonaut..
>>
>>18387270

I'm with you. My roommate and I had a cat. He was very outgoing and friendly and basically would flop down to let just about anyone pet him.

While I lived with that roommate, we had all kinds of people over. Over the years, probably two hundred or even more different people visited. The cat was only ever unfriendly to three of them. One of the people he was unfriendly to wound up being shot in bed with another mans wife. One was a cute redhead that was attracted to my roommate, but he quickly found that she was a semi-psychotic drama queen who caused nothing but heartbreak and pain. One wound up being convicted of child pornography.

Anyway I think you have to take the normal demeanor / personality of the animal into account - is this animal normally standoffish or a little aggressive? Some animals ARE kind of idiotic. But when an animal you know acts very differently from normal towards a particular person, it is worth paying attention in my opinion.
>>
Dogs often bark at me, and I can make dogs go wild with a simple trick.
>>
>>18387201
Generally in my experience with animals, they can read a person's intentions and character like a book. So at that moment in time, they may not have done anything but when making friends, I would listen to your animals in terms of judging personalities
>>
>>18387837
kicking them in the throat?
>>
>>18387201
it's to do with mood/state/vibe really.
when i've been down i've had random dogs on the street will try and come up to me like they want to console me. when i'm energetic i can bond/play with dogs really easily. when i'm feeling annoyed dogs will just bark at me for no reason. i can also make dogs totally clam up when i try.
>>
>>18387349
Go fuck yourself
>>
>>18388134
This. Dogs are very good at interpreting human moods. The dog in OP's story was defensive about that guy leading me to guess that at the time he had some ill intent more so than all the other people.

It is obvious to me dogs can read vibes or states.
But can anyone explain to me how my dog would be able to now who is calling my door bell? I live at 5th floor of my flat. If stranger calls the bell, it barks, if its my mother, my dog will get excited and happy. The door bell sounds the same way, my mother might come back at different time of a day.
Also I visited 2 haunted houses and my dog would be uncomfortable while being in them, which is strange too.
>>
>>18387349
We were having such a debate until you came with your stupid post
>>
>>18387234
This.

I had a rescued Bassett Hound who was locked in a cupboard 24/7 by the previous owner and beaten. For whatever reason.. the dog became racist. It would stand at the window and bark at anyone not white. The previous owner was white, so fuck knows why it was scared of non-whites. It attacked a few black guys that came to the house and in the end we gave it to a Bassett Hound charity. We treated it with love but it was too late.

I also had a Staff Bull Terrier that nipped my girlfriends kid for no reason (jealously?). The kid was sitting there doing nothing and the dog just flipped and grabbed his shoe. If I had a drink (beer) it would go uber-protective. I shook a guys hand once and suddenly the dog was hanging from his sleeve. The dog was soft as shit and wouldn't hurt a fly usually.

Also had a Jack Russell that would go for you if you ran away from it. Proper go for you.. hair standing up, teeth showing.

I've had around 10 dogs and they've all had weird moments.

Interesting stuff in this thread.
I don't have many experiences with dogs but I know when I was younger dogs would often bark at me or the dogs my family owned always disliked or disrespected me.
Now at 23 dogs either like me or ignore me, or sometime act scared.
Been like that for the last 2-3 years now, and I'm unsure of what the change was as I dont look any different from when I was 13 (hit puberty hard early on, just look more matured now).
Couple instances
>Black Rottweiler mix owned by black family across the street (approx 2 years ago before moving)
>Barely barked at me, if anything it was more like saying what's up or this is my territory nigga
>Roommates and brother who weren't exactly the best people towards me were barked at like crazy
>Sounded like the Rottweiler wanted to rip their throats open
>Rott was pretty much a bro to me
This happened a few days ago at my apt
>Outside sitting on porch smoking cig
>Dude walking some giant ass husky outside
>Husky comes just feet away from me, doesn't really bark just kinda does a friendly "woof" and goes back to being a dog
>Skinny lanklet is walking down street
>Husky acts like he wants to fuck him
Granted I'd of fucked him too, dude had a pretty face, but still.
Dogs are weird mang, and I just find it bizarre how their attitude in general just did a 180 as soon as I got into adulthood
>>
>>18387836
That's really interesting. Seems that animals have a sense for people that are unbalanced and malignantly inclined.
>>
>>18388203
Could it be some sort of specific preparation that you make before your mother visits that your dog has picked up on? That is interesting, and I've noticed this in a somewhat similar situation.
>>
>>18388203
Yeah my Staff would wait by the door 10 minutes before my sister came home. It was a running joke in the family, we'd all laugh at the dog.. "aww is mummy coming". Sure enough minutes later my sis would walk in and dog would go crazy lol Mum would even warm-up my sisters dinner when the dog sat by the door because we knew it was never wrong.

I fucking miss that dog.

What a bunch of horse shit

One time a saw a ghost but I didn't talk to it

I know of this guy who my dad is friends with. Whenever I was outside, I'd always see that guy getting growled or barked over by the dogs, but he wasn't doing anything at all. Anywhere he went, he was barked/growled over. Even by the two tiny dogs of my uncle (that stays by our gate on the compound). He lives by the end of the street so we see him a lot.

Turns out, dog meat was his absolute favorite during his teenage times.

If my dog acts like a retard around someone I presume it is because that person is not exactly the brightest bulb and the dog is trying to bring it down to your level. Hate to tell you, but those dogs are dumbing it down for you the same way they would with a puppy. I think this is appropriate.

Walking home from bus with other kid
Friendly dog sitting in his yard
Other kid says watch this
Looks dog in eyes
Dog starts screaming, not barking, screaming
Hides under porch
Never heard anything like the sound that dog made.
Dog dies like two weeks later.
Still freaks me the fuck out to think about

Were you selling drugs or your bodies?
>>
>>18387837
I get the opposite, dogs won't leave me alone. Always come to me for attention and affection more than they do with anyone else. Can they sense I love dogs and know I'll play with them more and for longer than most other people?

I did. Talk to a ghost that is.

No serious.

I can't remember it being only 3 at the time, but the description and the name of the woman "ghost" that I'd gave to my mum matched one of our neighbours' mum who'd died in the house months before we'd moved in.

Apparently, I was upstairs chatting to the ghost for 20 minutes before coming down and asking mum who the fuck is the old ginger woman laying on your bed.

I never saw her again but others did. She threw a book once at my sister, and a couple of times spooked a few friends.

Shit was weird. You probably think I'm bullshitting but that's fine. If I were you I wouldn't believe me.

Yep. Even dad told me that whenever there was a feast, that guy would be the first one to recommend dog meat, or the one to catch a dog to butcher later. He even stole a dog from his neighbor just to eat it on one drinking night. My dad says dog meat make you feel really hot (probably high blood pressure), so he does not eat it.

No. Your dog is just fucking stupid like you. You would have to be stupid to willingly pick up animal shit multiple times a day and just make that part of your lifestyle. Every dog I have ever met has pretty much perfectly reflected their owner. So if you're saying your dog is retarded well....
>>
>>18390378
Dog was being abused, you did nothing to save
that poor animal...
