Not OP, but medically induced and persistent coma is mostly right. Though while it wasn't a coma per se, I have been put under for medical reasons (wisdom teeth) which is a forced sleep state. While under you don't dream, you don't have any receptors firing, it's complete blackness with no conscience awareness. Hard to explain, since if there was no conscience experience, how do I know it was blackness. It's something I tend to compare what I expect death to be like; non conscientious darkness.
