it depends if you find the concept of aliens scary and believable enough. buy a gun and rig your doors with a simple alarm made from wind up clocks and a carved down piece of plastic preventing it from working because its stuck in place until the door opens. you have to affix it to either the door or door frame and the plastic piece has to enter it so you will need to drill a hole ect.
