tell me more about The Yellow King /x/
>>18337836
You mean the yellow king from HP lovecraft ?
>>18337836
The king in yellow is one of the avatars used by Lord Hastur to spread insanity. To see him without his robes and mask would drive a mortal man to the brink of madness.
To view the sign of the king in yellow is to allow him to make contact with you. It is also used by his cult for their symbol.

Makes sense.
>>18337880
Kek, I think she's in Montana now, doing god knows what. Pretty sure she was doing black magic in the house and upset some spirits.
>>18337868
It's a story written by Robert Chambers that heavily influenced some of lovecrafts work.
>>18337887
>Montana
so nuke incoming?
fucking assholes , they insist in salting the earth.
>>18337867
They said the exact same thing about the Madonna, but she turned out to just have regular breasts under there
>>18337836
An obvious reference to the emperor of China who was the only one permitted to wear xanthous
>>18337836
could be the trader king?
or the shadow king?
when you get yellow kings instead of golden ones you are doing someting wrong.
>>18337905
Or the Salem prophet Jeremiah who always wore yellow and who set fire to the stone temple on the mountain when Babylon invaded
>>18337897
Was the Madonna a great old one?
>>18337915

>yellow king from HP lovecraft
>>18337998
You forgot the part where the giant golden statue of king Nebuchadnezzar came to life and tore down the tower of bable wiith its bare hands
>>18337859
Pretty sure it's Robert W. Chambers that did The Yellow King
>>18338052
Yeah, but H.P. and other authors fleshed him out into what he is now.
>>18338059
I don't think Lovecraft ever named him as such. An acute reference maybe, but it was Derleth and his cronies that butchered the king in yellow and shoved him into their mythos.
>>18338224
Yeah. H.P. only referenced him and the yellow sign in passing.
Beksinski has a work titled The King in Yellow
H.P Lovecraft did reference The King in Yellow, so much so it is actually widely accepted and included in the Cthulhu mythos

it's a fictional character in a number of short stories. whats there to tell you about him? he barely even gets mentioned in his own book.
It seems a lot of people thought True Detective's season one finale was one of triumph and connection ultimately.
I don't see how it can be at all. They got what? One guard dog? Out of how many hydra heads? Confirmed it stretches all the way up to the tops of the government. How is this any cause for celebration?
Marty nuked his family from orbit. One of his daughters appears like she had been sexually abused (acting out, posing five male toys around one female toy, etc.). He was living very much alone from any human connection. Sure there's a chance he'll continue to have friendship with Rust but who knows? They can both be volatile men.
And lastly, Rust. The writing took a dump on his character. A regretful former parent who evolved into an antinatalist and philosopher. Then nearly dies and claims to have "felt" his deceased daughter and she was happy, ok, safe. Either everything that made him who he was, his opinions, beliefs are rendered moot at that point (which is what drew audience to the character) or.... he didn't actually feel his daughter. She's just dead after her short existence.
Sometimes I wonder what exactly they wanted to send up into the psychosphere with this ending of the season.

Sorry friend, the only other one i have is a 900x900
but it suffers in quality
>>18341204
I think that ambiguity was very much the point.
FWIW, Rust obtained the tapes because of characters in Season 2, who seem to have furthered the crusade against the evil cabal.
The running theme is that the monsters can be defeated, but only at the cost of great misery and pain for the people who take up the fight. They save innocents and strike back against the darkness, and destroy themselves in the process.
Overall, pretty interesting stuff for television.
I think Marty's daughter was copying something else--crime scene photos? Newspaper article? Can't remember. I think it was more about how he hated that the ugly world of his profession was creeping into his family life.

Can anyone confirm if this is accurate?

I can confirm
