Since i fell out of practiceing, i plan to restart myself using the full moon. Tomorrow, on the night of the full moon ill be fasting and cutting my hair, hving a ritual bath, and untill the new moon will be to some degree fasting and cleansing myself. Then on the new moon i start practice, with a kali puja as the first ritual.

so yeah, following this pattern. Cleansing from the full moon till the new moon, and itual work from the new moon onwards would be a very basic but good thing to do. No matter what tradition you follow.

To elaborate, if there are aspects of yourself that refuse to agree on certain ideas, but none of them have resolved over the course of the years, is it reasonable to consider assigning them a "persona" to allow them to negotiate in a more concrete space than the deep recesses of the mind?
I don't think I'm explaining this well, but since the parts of the whole cannot agree, the parts need to be thinned, and this can't occur when they're attempting to act in unison to keep the entity going, in this particular case. Assigning them a sense of individuality would create conflict and inequality, which will eventually calm the problem instead of having them all on even footing with no solution.
I'm not keen on conceptually giving myself a personality disorder, but I'm at a loss of what to do otherwise. If anyone knows books IN the library that will help with this, or have a general idea of a direction to start looking in, I'd be really thankful.

According to hinduism, one of the first disciples of shiva took the teachniques to africa. One of those techniques was putting the spirit of a god with mantras into an idol. Im not saying this is impossible or anything, but I find it highly unlikely. The practice of using Nkisi or Nganga is a very very ancient practice that as far as I am aware is neolithic in origin, probably pre-neolithic.

It's also a fairly intuitive thing to do... "I have magic box, put magic things in magic box to make more magic" and I dont doubt that it was developed in Hinduism on its own.
