What are demons? Can humans become demons?

It depends on who you ask. From what I learned getting to witchcraft when I was a little shit in middle/high school it was a non-human being that was born in hell and has only known hell as an agent of Satan. At some point it can be dispatched to attack a human... or something along those lines.

Later on when I stopped trying to curse my classmates and fucking with voodoo dolls and grew the fuck up, I learned that it's more of like a mindset or element in a human's life that plagues their mind and causes them distress. For instance, people dealing with anorexia are dealing with a "demon," that demon being their insecurities driving them to extreme measures to indulge and feed the mindset that they're too fat. Like I said, it depends on who you ask. someone will probably come in here in a second telling me I'm talking out of my ass or something. Either way, I've never heard of a "demon" being defined in a way that allows a human to become one, except in shitty animes.

There are two options:

-Demons are metaphorical figures with the purpose of humanize "negative" behaviors. In that case demons are not real.

-Demons are real and they're psychic "energy" based possessing a huge ego, that explains why they torment people (i'm talking about the psychic energy, not the ego).

Can humans become demons? In the second case you could become one after dying, or you can't and demons weren't humans, but rather created by humans or another thought form with a bigger ego.
