No one on /x/ wants to actively hunt for ghouls and ghosts OP. They implicitly know that they will become disillusioned when they realize that there are no such things as ghosts or cryptids. So instead, they value and deliberate in being ignorant so they can fill the gaps with paranormal beliefs since it makes life interesting for them. Without a belief in the paranormal, their crippling depression would sink in and they wouldn't want that.
