So what if we are AI and the Demiurge is just the creator of our simulation?
We do work in a rather artificial way, life does.

Life is a series of biological machines.

i'm a pretty shitty AI then ayylmaoaoa

Spirituality also is in Nature; don't mistake "AI" for being. We are consciousness and energy, "AI" is what is programmed in our mind, if you think you intellect is artificial it is because something outside of you is trying to convince you that it is "AI" when really it is just our brains processing information, repeating patters, which we can overcome when we know the truth about intellect and consciousness,
The creation is here and so are we, created by the Creator, meaning that we are here to work in some way, but this work is not artificial, nor is there any negative or positive connotations to the word demiurge, because understand that life is an actual reality as well, though temporary, we are still here .

>Everything is just mechanistic
Nope

literally the truth, except ai implies we are not sentient.

Everything we trust to exist is shown to be subject to causality.
In the event that we exist in some form beyond what scientific canon currently recognizes, then it would be irrational to assume that existence would not also be subject to causality -- just causality we do not or cannot comprehend.
There is going to be a period between the discovery of what we call a soul and the discovery of the operating mechanisms of what we call a soul. There is going to be a period between the discovery of what we call God and the discovery of the operating mechanisms of what we call God. Those interims do not make these things exempt from causality. Our lack of understanding of a subject is not evidence against the existence of that subject.
And there is no reason to assume that, given we exist solely inside ourselves, a creator does not guide our hand by way of neurons and synapses, neurotransmitters, alleles. Photons beamed to us from distant stars that irradiate our cells. Gravitational pull from celestial bodies. If a creator can map and control all of these factors, he needs nothing else to intervene.
Even if there are creators above us, there is no logical reason to believe their will is any freer than ours. They still do what they do for reasons. Unless you believe in at least a single instance of true randomness, and not just causality to complicated to predict, it is all mechanistic.
Things work the way they work regardless of how we explain it to ourselves.

Everyone knows that HAL, GLaDOS, Skynet, Allied Mastercomputer, and Hillary Clinton are our true robot overlords!
