As for hanging around....I don't know. File a police report.

Pawn shops, jewlers, etc all have a database system that connects them with local PD and alerts them on items reported stolen. IIRC the database extends throughout the state.

The more specific about the chain you are the more likely that theyll get a hit on it. Also helps to scour craigslist for listings on the stolen items, if you find it you can set up to go buy them (obviousy using a different number) and give the thief the option of returning your shit or jail. Youll need to have a police report beforehand for this as well.

However if the thief fences the items to some random then youre out of luck, unless that person goes and makes a dumb move like mentioned above.

Would like to add - if you have the full names of the people you suspect, youre basically golden. Put those in the report and if they go to pawn the chain they will get raped by police. Anytime you pawn something you have to show photo ID and sign for the item. If they did this then they will instantly get flagged by the database and its a wrap.

Any good thief knows this system is in place though, so if theyve done this multiple times its likely they wont be dumb enough to do this.
