Is there a site or somewhere that has a regularly updated list of weird, vaguely unsettling games, particularly indie games? I'm not talking about outright spoopy shit, just this sort of feeling that things aren't quite right as you're playing it. Especially things like large empty quiet levels, jarringly outdated 3D graphics, and a general sense that the game itself is unfinished or a prototype.

An example of what I'm talking about:

Try out Crypt Worlds (site has other games as well, but CW seems to be his magnum opus) and you might also like Goblet Grotto.

I think this is in the sticky, but posting here for relevance :

It's not all games. In fact, I'm not sure if there are any games at all, but it's something.

Jonathan Blow's "Braid" is fantastic for this. It was released first for XBox 360, but there's a Microsoft Windows port for it. But it was also in 2008, which was apparently 8 years ago, and yet it feels like the blink of a goddamn eye for me, and it also makes me reflect on how fucking old I am, and then I realize that basically everything I do is a game where I get this feeling that things aren't quite right, and my entire existence is filled with large, empty, quiet levels, jarringly outdated 3D graphics, and a general sense that things are both unfinished and prototypical.

But you should definitely check out Braid.

Worlds.
That fucking game was weird.. really weird.
I used to play on that from time to time. All the empty levels, and places..

OP here, the image is from worlds.com. I took it from this page: http://robertlorayn.computersclub.org/Worlds.html

These are more my speed, and I can look the games up individually and download them, but was more interested in whether there's an aggregator sort of like tigsource.com but for these types of games

if youre looking for unfinished game then you could try Oneiro Project

OP I've got a game you'll like.

https://antoinejosset.itch.io/grooveclub

It's in French, so you might not be able to understand it, but I guess that could add to that esoteric feeling you're looking for.

itch.io is a good place to look for those sorts of strange indie games that no ones ever heard of before. Some other examples:
https://poor-track-design.itch.io/call-of-dudley
https://allen.itch.io/good-morning-commander

Worlds.
Pretty much anything by The Chinese Room.
Manhunt was absolutely -fucked-
I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream is largely spoiled by the Internet by now.
Shadow of the Colossus and Ico aren't really spooky, but in one word, they're forlorn. Journey is in the same boat.
Heavy Dad Simulator is Se7en: The Game.
Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem is a good representation of dissociation.
Yume Nikki. Ao Oni.
Pathologic and Void by Ice-Pick Lodge.

This is kind of all over the place and some aren't exactly what you asked but it's what I could think of off the top of my head.

Man, what's actually there just makes me sad. It had so much potential. The first thing I did once I had the resources in Eve Online was fly to the Eve Gate. Monolithic mysterious shit butters my buns.
>>
>>18302440
Link maybe?
>>18302486
These all fit the bill for what I was looking for. It looks like itch.io is a general purpose indie game platform, did you use a specific set of search terms or tags for those games?
>>
>>18302544
These are all games I've just kind of found out about over time. However, if you use a combination of tags like 'surreal', 'walking-simulator', 'first person', and so on, it brings up more of these sorts of games.

I'm assuming you've already heard of LSD Dream Emulator? That's a pretty classic "weird" game and I'm surprised it hasn't been mentioned yet.

Bad Day on the Midway is pretty unsettling. It was a point and click game by The Residents. Of you've seen any of their 3D music videos It's the same style but all over. It's a little nauseating to me though but it has a real fever dream feeling to it.

It never gets talked about but .flow is a spiritual successor to Yume Nikki that's still a fantastic original with a substantially less vague 'story' and background. Level layout isn't quite as tedious as yume nikki either.
>>
>>18302264
E.Y.E: Divine Cybermancy has a shit ton of illuminati symbols, big "empty" levels and metaphysical concepts. It's more action oriented and is cyberpunk as fuck too so it might not be what you're looking for, but it's a great game none the less.

Kairo fits your description to the letter though

LOVE Quel Solaar may fit the bill quite well. It's beautiful but also very eerie.

It's pretty well made but it's ridiculously overlooked, probably less than a couple thousand people even know of this game even though it was supposed to be an MMO.

I used to play a fuckton of Yume Nikki fangames. It's pretty ridiculous how many there are.

Yume 2kki definitely deserves a mention, though. It's more random and batshit than .flow and Yume Nikki since a bunch of different people from 2ch all collaborate from it. (Fairly recently, one of my favorite devs on the game quit after being there since pretty much the start. I'm still sad.)

Since different people have worked on it, the quality also varies. Sometimes you get amazing, beautiful, how-the-fuck-did-you-do-this-in-rpg-maker locations with great music then sometimes you get ms paint scribbles and a shitty midi for bgm. That's why I love it so much, a ton of variety so it never really does quite get boring.

Also, one of my favorite games that might be what OP is looking for could be #21: The World. It's basically a dude's dream journal put into a Unity game. It's more lighthearted even when its supposed to be more on the scary side.

Also, on uboachan there's a thread on their Other Games board /og/ with a huge list of things to play that those who like Yume Nikki or tiny indie games would enjoy, though they might not entirely be what OP themselves is looking for.

>lilith is a girl

No, he's not. "Wanting to be" and "is" are not the same.
>>
LISA pretty much nails the whole unsettling and hopeless atmosphere thing, but it's pretty polished. It's got a really great soundtrack, and terrific writing, so I'd recommend playing it 100%.
>>
>>18303883
Why does it matter?
>>18305111
Why do you care? It doesn't affect you literally at all.
>>
>>18305339
LISA was waaay better than I expected.
>>
it's an mmo so you'd have to pay a monthly subscription, but shores of hazeron is supposed to be pretty good. it has a lot of empty planets. could be pretty unsettling depending on how you feel about deep space.
