Seeing as most occult knowledge and texts can be gained in PDF format a google search away, can it really be considered 'occult' in that sense? It's publically available, unlike it once was. At this point it is mainly ignored rather than hidden. Yes.

Not everyone is cut out for these practices. As such, there are fewer of these records than there are of exoteric religion.

Even fewer actually practice what's therein, or gain a mastery of the material in terms of understanding, experience, and comprehension.

Because the occult is apparent nonsense.

What it actually does is to influence the one thing which governs everything in this universe.

Nothing ever happens to our lives simply because of hard work, dedication, etc etc. The determining factor is luck. It controls everything else and is the one thing which is absolutely necessary for success.

The more I think about my own life, the more I realise how little choice I had and how much sheer luck determined where I am now.

You can literally buy the Necronomicon at Barnes & Noble. If there were any validity to this stuff, business executives would use tarot to predict the stock market. Mediums would be asked to testify in murder cases. Doctors would be trained to recognize hexes and binding rituals in addition to the usual non-magical illnesses. The military would be teaching their officers spells to inflict death on America's enemies. Schoolchildren would learn basics of the occult alongside the usual topics like math, social studies, and sciences.
