Yes, this is true. After I stopped looking and developed some skills, they did find me. So best way is to stop looking, get good at something you care about.

I wish to create a cult of urbanomancyish things, urban legends, urban fantasy, urban hacking, psychogeography and all that stuff. If you feel spiritual about cityscape and believe that cities are the true form of life of which we are mere cells - maybe you understand that we need to bring that up and rolling. Although I'm not charismatic enough person to be a cult leader obviously.

There was a talk I listened to that was discussing consciousness and hypothesizing alien creatures with distributed consciousness (Like one imagined being was a symbiotic system like an elephant with ants in its brain. Together, the system is sentient, separate they are "dumb animals."). It eventually led to considering cities not just as living environments, but as sentient creatures themselves, made up of human "cells."

I've tried to find it again, but no luck. Especially since "conscious city" or "sentient city" is now a term for a city with an internet-of-things distributed through it. So instead of a city that is actually sentient you get links to streetlights that only turn on if someone is nearby.

It's understandable to me that we aren't really able to talk to cities - they are quite a Lem's Solaris to us - but I believe we can hack into the unseen processes, treat it as a black box, gain a deeper understanding.
