You're just buying into the popular image of cats. All jokes aside, while most cats will not grovel for your attention the way a dog will, there are as many different personalities as their are cats. Some are super affectionate, some couldn't care less if you keeled over dead in front of them. And you know, last time I checked, your loving, loyal dogs have actually killed and maimed a good number of people, but even your most anti-social cat isn't likely to be racking up any fatalities.

Basically, if you say "All cats X, all dogs Y" you're either stupid or trolling.

They have caused 36 species of bird to go extinct ad kill between 2-4 billion birds a year in North America alone (I'm not sure about Europe)

Not all dogs are working dogs, most toy breeds are completely pointless or bred just for looks and companionship. If you're looking for stories of cats saving peoples lives just google around theres a service cat that warns their owner of on coming seizures, cats kept our ancestors food safe from pests and cats keep the number of invasive English house sparrows down in the U.S. Take into account that they are an evolutionary success they fit a niche and thrive in most environments, that's not something we bred in them either they're just a part of nature. If you want to do something about their negative impacts on the local fauna educate people in spaying and neutering the problems cats cause are due entirely to neglectful owners and pet abandonment. Don't come into a thread and try to derail it so you can feel superior about you dislike of a common pet, because they can be as friendly, needy, helpful and loyal as any dog.

DO NOT go to an animal shelter or pet store around Halloween or equinox/solstices asking for a black cat -- I understand they freak out as edgy teens do that looking for a sacrifice for their Slipnot dime-novel Satanfest party. Esp. at an animal shelter you could get cops called on your sorry ass.

That said other times other places would be better, but in all honesty I personally have never bought a cat. They turn up and adopt me or a neighborhood cat drops a litter and I've gotten kittens that way. I've seen people handing kittens out outside stores, but never got a cat that way.

In the end out of about ten cats over a lifetime only ended up with two black cats -- it was all luck of the draw coat wise. One of those black cats was fucking crazy aggressive, Short haired, jet black would starting gnawing on your hand painfully if you let it on your lap. That monster just dropped by one day, stayed for about six months, then who knows where it went. ( rural/urban mix area -- outside mouser cats ) The other black cat was docile long haired thing, had it for nearly ten years, then it got this huge fucking jaw cancer tumor outta nowhere & had to be put down.

i got a gray cat not so long ago it's the closest i could get its only 3months old and is turning everything into a mess he poops on the carpets and bites mi fingers my lower arm look like as i was a self harm emo teens with dadyy issues or whatever i have already owned 3 cats but purely black ones are rare af i couldn't even adopt one from the streets as i mom think they are dirty and sick whatever
