They're not exactly an uncommon coin, and any circulated silver coin of that age is likely to be worn down. The ones out and about now have probably sat in old ladies' candy jars for decades. Yours is in "good" condition due to the level of wear. It is worth about 20 bucks, so that's pretty lucky compared to a regular dollar. Cleansing diminishes value of old coins, so I figure it would have the same effect on their "lucky" status.

Wash it in running water. You can use some dish soap if you want, but no scrubbing, just your hands. Dry it completely with a piece of soft cloth.

Here's your foolproof cleansing powder:
Sea salt (ideally, but table salt works as well)
Sulphur (you should be able to get this several places including your local witchy weirdness shop)
a cleansing herb, this could be anything with cleansing properties, hyssop, rue, lavender even a mint would be fine for good luck

get a white cloth wrap the coin up in your purifying mixture and let it sit through one full moon to new moon cycle. Remember to pick it up once in awhile and charge it, but dont open it until the new moon.

I learned this trick from an old alchemist

You need a cup of urine, a tablespoon of salt, aluminum foil, and a glass or ceramic dish(Do not use metal).

Take the foil and punch some small holes in it, then wrap the coin with the foil.

Now heat the urine up till you see tiny bubbles forming, and put the salt in it. Stir until the salt is gone.

Now pour the solution over the coin, and scream at it as loud as you can. This drives away the "evil spirits".

If you did it right, you should smell an odor not unlike an old septic tank(apart from the odor of the warm piss). And the coin should look visibly shinier.
