I've been taught that to make a sygil effective you 1. create a phrase then 2. drop the vowels the 3. sygil away.
Anything else I should know? Does it always need to be in an enclosed circle?
dropping the vowels is just a meme
it doesn't need to include shapes at all, some just blend sigils together with geometry for extra effect
so the circle is optional, whatever speaks to you is what you should go with

In order to create a sigil, you should first create a "magic Box.
Creating a magic box requires a little basic arithmetic.
Whatever method you believe works best will work best for you. Dropping vowels is a meme but there's power in humans collective consciousness.
The Spare method in general is a meme, but hey, if it's giving you results, then go for it

Doing a Google search for "kamea magic square" should yield the information you are looking for.
hundreds of ways to make them. If you have any hope of getting anywhere, you want to understand the reasoning behind any particular method. What is it trying to accomplish?
There is no right way, and it only becomes wrong when the reasons for using a method are ignored and/or the person is a shitty magician. But that wouldn't really be the sigil methods fault if you want to get technical
Far, far, more important is your thoughts, state of mind, what you do/think afterwards , whether what you are asking for makes any sense, whether you have unconscious resistance to it, or even resistance to magic itself.
The sigil is minor. And if you do a squiggle when you should have done a squaggle, it doesn't make a shit differenct, unless of course you get hung up on it, in which case it makes all the difference in the world, which is a hint at what's important.

There is a chemical explanation for how sigils work. Dropping the vowels only works when you use a semitic consonantal root. If you want to use a word from Indus valley roots, then write the whole thing.

I just make em like you said, no closed circle though and no repeating letters. I focus on the intent for however long I think is good and then I fold it up and burn it and forget about it.

1. Don't call it a "sygil" asshole, you know damn well that's not how its spelled.
2. Sigils are simply another reference for our brain to unconsciously process Into a bigger picture of seemingly synchronous events, when it actuality it is our brain creating a pattern where there is none.
3. "Sygil" man? Really? God damn I hate /x/
