So /x/ you find a silver key one day. It will only a single door and no others. Do you open the door to satisfy your curiosity? Or keep it closed to forever guess on what could of behind the door?
>>
Assuming I ever find that door. But yes, probably.
>>
That key doesn't look very effective. Who would lock away something valuable with a lock that is extremely easily picked (unless they want it be found).
>>
>>18274144
It's more of a placeholder image for the Silver Key.

Cats have many lives.

Hmm I'd have to argue and say that to the road kill near my neighborhood
>>
>>18274144
Ah. But who said what was behind the door valuable?
>>
>>18274112
I don't understand the context. “It will only [open?] a single door and no others.” implies there are multiple doors in front of me, or something. If so, what are the other doors? Purely decorative? If so, why are you mentioning them at all, if they hold no relevance for my decision?

Where did I get the key from? Did I just find it on my bed or something? And where did I find the door? Do I have any clues as to who may have put it there?

Little of this makes sense out of context, so I can barely answer the question. But I am a curious person. If I can open a door to see what's on the other side, I will.
>>
>>18274217
Good enough point. It was my fault I'm too used to vague questions. Adding more to the hint. The silver key is unique because it only fits to one door. There have been a few past holders but that doesn't matter now because you're now in possession of said key.

That's the most I will say. Anymore and well.... Google is your friend.
>>
>>18274237
>The silver key is unique because it only fits to one door.
Almost all keys share this property. Do you contemplate the metaphysical ramifications of your car door before you drive somewhere, too?

It's not the key that's special, nor is it the lock. What's special is what the lock protects. The key is a means to an end.
>>
>>18274112
Yeah, If I was choosed by the key, and could find the door, I would open the door, but I'm just anothera worthless individual in this infinite multiverse, so that isn't gonna happen
>>
>>18274245
But are there not master keys that can open many locks? But you are right, indeed what exactly does the lock protect?

>>18274261
While right to a degree, since you were chosen by the key would it not lead you to the door?
>>
>>18274272
>But are there not master keys that can open many locks?
Locks and keys are both designed. Master keys only exist for locks which are designed to have dual-purpose

For example, consider a key with two halves - a part which is common to all locks and a part which is unique to every lock. The master lock would simply only have the first part but omit the second.

Master keys can only open the locks they were designed to open, which is important because it brings us back to the element of human choice. Keys and locks are just physical manifestations of social structure. We give our master keys to figures of authority (security guards, leaders etc.), because we want those figures of authority to be able to access the things protected by the locks.

The key and lock is meaningless, it's the access policy of the thing they're protecting that matters.
>>
>>18274281
Interesting view and thank you for your input. But in this situation of finding a random Silver Key, what do you think the lock protects? Or in another case locks away so others will be protected?
>>
>>18274288
Nothing. It doesn't matter what the lock protects. It could be anything. It could be nothing. This would never happen. You asked a yes or no question. Anyone can imagine anything behind the door. It's infinite.
>>
>>18274293
>infinite
Indeed it is.

How am I going to get the next key, if I never open the mystery box?
>>
As long as its silver and not gold, ill use it
>>
Well, you never implied anything supernatural, so fuck it. I'd open it.
