Now I know some of you may consider this /tv/-territory, but this is essentially /x/: The Show.

For those who don't know Channel Zero is a show that bases all their episodes on creepypastas.

I think it's worth checking out if you're into that kinda' stuff but I want to hear the opinions of the community that essentially wrote the show. What say you /x/?
>>
I missed yesterday's episode. Was it any good?
>>
>>18271956

I thought it was good. I'm not gonna' ruin it for you, but I enjoyed it a ton.

That being said, I thought E2 was the best one they've done so far, so maybe my opinion is worth shit.

How are you enjoying it Anon?
>>
They should have new creepy pasta for every episode

But instead they had to have a whole season of this 1 creepy pasta and they still failed making it scary or good
>>
Fake and gay.
>>
Partially this: >>18272018

I've always felt that good creepypasta would fit nicely in a "Goosebumps For Adults" kinda' show, and part of the reason for that was because creepypasta are so short it would be easy to summarize even the long ones in 40 minutes.

Now they're whole-season affairs, and that means that they need to get external writers on the case, and it's all down-hill from there. Creepypasta are suppose to be short-and-sweet.

My second problem is that these are CREEPYpasta, not SCARYpasta. There's a bit of a difference. When you read a really good creepy pasta you are left slightly creeped out, because it is somewhat realistic and it's a situation that feels creepy to be in. It doesn't need a tooth-monster that kidnaps and kills children to scare you.

Channel Zero feels like it's trying to scare the audience, not creep them out and I think that's a misunderstanding of the source material and the audience watching.
>>
I want an episode about old gods type shit, the ending needs to be something that will fuck normies up.
like the protag looks up, the camera doesnt show you what they're looking at only the most disgusting inhuman sounds possible and this atmosphere of utter dread.
>>
>>18272066

I don't think it CAN do that. Firstly it will have to build up to high heaven, and the scream will have to be the most blood-wrenching thing ever heard on TV if they want to get that kinda' point across.

It has to be done a very spesific way or audience will just feel betrayed by all that buildup for no payout.
>>
The only mistake was thinking they could draw a single creepy pasta out into an entire season. It's a bit much and it starts to wear thin pretty quick.
>>
>>18271949

Have they done the one yet where the chick climbs into the oven and disappears?

That one really got me for some reason.

Normal Porn for Normal People was also bretty gud
>>
I really like their efforts to do as many of the effect practically as they can. Which is kinda' nice.
>>
The reason creepy pastas became so popular was because they didn't rely on cliches. A lot of what was thought up for those stories was new, original material. To see it used in this clearly Hollywood-esq style is a little disheartening.

Did you feel the show caputed the essens of Candel Cove, /x/?
>>
Did they track down the guy/girl who wrote the Candlecove pasta to obtain rights or did they just assume it was "public domain" because it was on the Internet like everyone did with Slenderman?
>>
>>18272223

I don't think they tracked down shit, but the problem with creepypastas is that they're usually written by anons, so it's kinda' hard to prove that it was YOUR idea.

Everything without some form of name or identity attached to it is essentially free-pickings. Especially when you have a channel big enough to afford it's own legal-division.
>>
>>18272277
They credit the writer at the beginning of every episode. It isn't even creepypasta, it's in a story compilation by Kris Straub
>>
>>18272418

I am quite sure the story of Candel Cove was originally a creepypasta though.
>>
>>18271949
I posted a thread about it last night on /tv/ but they took it down for some reason it was only up for like 20 mind but I hope they make one of the seasons based off of penpal you should give it a read it's a very suspenseful and creepy creepypasta which was made into a book
>>
>>18272434

/tv/ is too into it's memes, capeshit and kino-delegation to pay much attention to a lowly show like this.
>>
>>18271949

Shit's boring yo.

The first few minutes of the first episode it looked like th show had big potential, it really captured the creepy feel of creepy pasta when everyone become mannequins around him and that 1 second of the burning tree walking in the hallway was cinematically stunning

But short after that with the snap of the finger the show turned into boring and ugly shit fest
>>
>>18272434
Penpal would be perfect for this show since it's more of a story although I don't think the ending would be very accepted by the audience but you never know I liked the ending it was creepy and sad
>>
>>18272223
It's well-documented that Kris Straub wrote the original.

Fag.
>>
All these fucking shows succ... Just watch Outer Limits if you want some adult Goosedhumps.
>>
Question is, has this show stolen up the chance to use creepy pasta in film and television?
>>
>>18271949

I'm really digging it so far, but the show isn't exactly perfect. There are some budget issues, and the script could be a bit tigher, but it's miles better than most horror on television these days.

I'm still not sure if the no-end house is the right choice for the next season, but I'm glad we're getting more creepypasta-inspired entertainment.

If you guys had to choose, what other creepypastas would you like to see adapted? I'd love something featuring the SCP foundation.

I think so.

Tooth Child is a cutie.
>>
>>18272189
No.
>>
I hope they do a season based on THE DAY OF ALL TEH BLOOD
>>
>>18277802
Close. Second season is The No-End House.
>>
>>18276174

I wonder what it feels like to get head from that. Spikey and awful probably.
>>
>>18276174
Do you think he bathes in toothpaste?
>>
>>18272428
It was written by Straub and posted here for a competition or something
>>
>>18279325
I bet you can kill him with coca-cola.
>>
>>18273851
I'd love just a season of different goatman/skinwalker stories. Like 20 minute episodes for the short ones and have 2 part epsiodes for the longer ones
>>
>>18277849
Boo to that shitfest of a story.
>>
Any of y'all got links to the show?
>>
Just watched episode 3 and I'm really enjoying it so far. I was fully expecting the show to be total shit but it actually really surprised me
>>
>>18281111
Holy shit I got quads
>>
The tooth fairy is shit IMO

Should have just slowly revealed worst and worst pirates
>>
Fuck off shill.
>>
They could have done so much better by just doing hour-long episodes with one creepypasta each.
I actually thought that was the case the first time I saw a trailer for this, because all I could think was that there's no way in hell they can extend Candle Cove to a whole season.

Ted the Caver when
>>
>>18279789
It's already filming. When do you think they'll do "Who was phone?"
>>
>>18279783
Why kill a harmless tooth child who just walks around, eats teeth, and nibbles on fingers?

The teacher probably treats him like her dead son. She probably bathes him with homemade baking soda and cinnamon soap then dries him off and reads him bedtime stories until he falls asleep and then kisses him goodnight.
