The only good found footage movies are Blair Witch and Cloverfield. Maybe the first VHS and Paranormal Activity, I haven't seen either. The rest are shitty cash ins, prove me wrong.

TROLLHUNTER is brilliant, everything else is in it's shadow.

I'll say this: It was not what I expected it to be.

I feel like they could have made two different movies with it though. One, a descent into Hell, and the other, a deep, intellectual philosophical adventure about finding the Philosopher's Stone. Was alright though, better than I feared once I realized she was "looking" for something alchemists are supposed to create. Was thinking, "What is she, Harry Potter?"

I'd still recommend Trollhunter, and probably As Above, So Below. I'd recommend The Blair Witch Project, haven't seen the new one though. Cannibal Holocaust is a classic but you kind of feel dirty watching it.

I've seen one - Afflicted? It's alright.
Uh... another... The Frankenstein Theory... it's so-so. Not sure if I should recommend for Frankenstein fans or recommend against it.

Obviously Paranormal Activity and V/H/S are available for plebs and edgy tryhards, respectively.

Paranormal Entity was okay, had the Bell Witch and was surprisingly better than I expected from a mockbuster.

Quarantine's okay but I'd still recommend [REC]. I stopped at [REC]2 though, I heard the third drops the format so I had no interest in watching.

Chronicle is good. Cloverfield is watchable, but full of weird coincidences.

Apollo 18 and Europa Report are okay if you want some sci-fi horror.

The Last Exorcism is kind of depressing, as is The Borderlands.

Not sure how I feel about Alien Abduction: Incident in Lake County. Been a while since I've watched.

Check out The Bay, The Poughkeepsie Tapes, and The Tunnel. one are particularly good, but you're reaching the end of found-footage.

I just listened to Leaving DC. Amazing paranormal one in the same vein as Blair Witch Project

There was one /x/ reccomended to me that I quite liked, it was about a priest going to investigate a miracle at a church. The church turns out to be the sight of some fuckin weird ass pagan shit, long story short they end up trapped in a tunnel and being digested by the fucking hillside. Really fuckin good IMO, had all the hallmarks of cool shit, badass irish drunk priest with a spooky backstory, some Lovecraftian spoops, all that shit you guys like.
Unfortunately I can't for the life of me remember the name of it.

Personally, that's my favorite found footage movie of all time. It's really fucking cheap and it shows, but it really works for me. The scene where the kid goes into his room and finds the alien hiding behind his door scared the shit out of me. THAT'S how you do a jump scare. No loud noises, no stupid pop-up, no music from nowhere, just a startled gasp from the kid as he turns around sees a gray staring right at him.

Found a torrent for this last night and holy shit was it ahead of its time. So many of the signature tricks used by modern FF films were already present in this forgotten 1992 masterpiece. Surprising it doesn't get talked about more on /x/. A kid killed himself a week after it aired, thinking he was experiencing the same thing; two shrinks documented genuine PTSD cases from watching it, and it generated 30,000 panicked calls during a single hour. No wonder they never broadcast it again.

Seriously, is it wrong to like The Blair Witch Project? I understand the negativity for it being hyped up at the time. I found it annoying, but I enjoy the movie for actually being a decent horror film. I was not that active with social media at the time, and did not get any of the viral marketing people seem to remember about it. It was word of mouth that got me, but I knew it was fake. The movie itself actually made me feel uneasy for those kids. That feeling of dread a good horror movies provides, without the cheap jump scares.

I really want more of the same.

Grave encounters is my fav as i used to watch ghost hunting shows like that all the time. I just watched as above so below about 2 hrs ago, and I really enjoyed it. It gets a lot of hate on this site as do found footage in general but those are my favorites I think because they seem much more realistic to me
