shigeru mizuki's work could be of interest if you're seeking something comfortable but still paranormal.

i think, while ito is good, focus is placed upon body horror rather than anything psychological. he's great at illustrating disgust and build up, but i think the formula becomes a little predictable and sometimes a letdown.

There's this weird anime I was watching on crunchy roll this one time it had different art style where the characters had like a paper like style to them. Was a Constantine type story where there was a bounty hunter that goes around and banishes spirits from wherever they're at. Very trippy and suspenseful. Going to try and look for it right now

The main character travels constantly and acts as a catalyst or central point for the telling of the story featuring a different supernatural being (Mushi) each time. Frankly, for /x/ purposes, I personally see little reason to differentiate between Eastern and Western animation. We're drawing the line between titles which are explicitly /x/ and which aren't, other criteria are secondary. But I have no reason to object if other people want to split things up. We had a hard enough time getting that chart under 4 megabytes with just anime titles. Eventually we're going to have to make a /co/x/ chart to go with the /a/x/ one.

They're all /x/, which encompasses topics from cryptids to time travel. Some of them are monster-focused action, some are traditional ghost stories, some are psychological horror.

If you asked me what Ergo Proxy was about, I'd have to say it's a find-yourself quest in a cyber / post-apocalyptic setting. The closing song is Radiohead's Paranoid Android, which in context is brilliant and hilarious.

I haven't seen everything on the list, and some titles that I have seen are not in it (the guy who made it was adamantly against including Another, I no longer recall why, if he explained it at all). Also I'm having to guess at what exactly you mean by occult mysticism. I'm taking it to mean ritual magic (invocations and such).

I can say that Eureka Seven is influenced by (a badly understood) The Golden Bough by James George Frazer. Not what you're looking for, but it might interest you all the same. The rest of it is boy pilot with issues, though, and on that count I can't recommend it. It's nowhere near as good as EVA or Rahxephon.

I can also mention, in seriousness, Bible Black. The guy who wrote it had clearly read a grimoire or two first. It also happens to be particularly explicit porn, so don't say I didn't warn you.

I don't see steins gate anywhere on here. That's pretty classic /x/ shit. Conspiracies, time travel, CERN, alternate timelines, John Titor.

Overall 100/10 series.
