Also interested in space. Great pic by the way, I like writing and this has given me some interesting motivation to write something peculiar and space based.

Here's a thought for you. If space is limitless and at the same time expanding AND life is as rare as it seems to be, it stands to reason that 1) there is a reason life is rare and 2) space is pressing against something as it expands.

What if space in all it's near-infinite expansion is solely there to protect us? All the stars and planets are meant to be distractions for the horrors that exist outside of our universe but desperately wish to get in? Imagine the scope of such terrors. To be able to destroy the universe just to get to us on a tiny ball.

Space isn't limitless, it just has no edges because it bends back into itself. That is to say, a fourth dimensional sphere. And like on a sphere, going across its surface will get you back were you started, but in the case of our universe in every direction. This sphere is what is expanding, causing space between things to grow.
Also it's expanding out into 4D space so it's not really "pressing" into anything as we as 3D creatures can conceptualize or that would effect us.
