Has anyone here grown up or participated in a cult of any kind?

Interested to hear anons experiences of so
>>
Never been in a cult myself, tried to start one up and only ever got two members. It died after a while, but I ended up getting a disciple about a year later by accident. He wanted to know some shit about my past and when I (rather dismissively) went over the part when I was trying to start up my religion (i.e. my cult), he ended up getting hooked. I eventually sent him on his way as my first disciple to spread the word. No clue what happen to him, it's been almost two years since I saw him.

Also knew a woman who was fleeing a cult from Poland. A friend of my helped her get to the US and I rented here some space until she got back on her feet.

They managed to get her to sign over her life-saves but left when they wanted to impregnate her (+other women) which some kind of savior baby bullshit. She also talked about alot of abuse she saw there, forced blowjobs and molestations. Never said if it happened to her, though I suspected it did.

My aunt and mother told me that they went to a village gathering and there was a cult in the process, what they told was that everytime the cult chanted something, the ground would shake or they would almost fall of

I was raised in a cult. The children of God.

My dad joined in the 70's after being cold converted somewhere in Europe after having a profound spiritual experience(I later found out that during this time someone spiked him with a huge dose of LSD, he doesn't think it's related). He met my mom on a missionary trip to south east asia a few years later and then converted her.

Basic cult stuff.
No contact with the outside world. No books, movies, games etc while growing up.
All reading material was produced by the group a long with music and other things, It was very well organized.
I was brought up believing that the world would end at any second, I was forced to memorize verses. Made to believe that I could speak personally to jesus/angels/spirits whenever I wanted through meditiation.

This changed when my family were kicked out/demoted due to my dad not being able to mesh well with the authority figures.
So by the time I was 9-10 our whole family was pretty much out and we hadn't suffered much, if any damage.
I'm 26 now and know several people with deep psychological issues because of it(sexual abuse).

I really don't care much about my past since it was always a very tenious connection that my family had, I suppose I'm lucky in that sense.

The weirdest part is not being from anywhere. I'm already mixed euro/asian, so the cult thing in tandem with the race thing is really troublesome in terms of my identity.
The only people I really relate to are ex-cult like me, but they're all messed up or really fucking stupid.

When me and my sister were kids, my mother was in this creepy Christian cult. The religion (Apostolic/pentecostal) was very strict. Females could wear only dresses or skirts at all times, we couldn't cut our hair, wear makeup or jewelry. It was very sexist. There we're only 10 people in our tiny little church located at the end of a long dead end road. The adults would act like mental patients by crying, screaming, rolling on the floor crying for Jesus and speaking in tongues. It used to scare the hell out of me and my sister.

OK, cults. I never was in one, but I did know a guy who started one.
>Be me, about 11 years old, this is back in the day.
>Young kid, a few years older than me, was our paperboy.
>He was our neighbor, and lived with his parents half a block the street.
>They said his dad ran a butcher shop downtown.
>Every couple weeks of so he would come around to collect for the paper.
>Blond-haired, sort of stocky, real sure of himself.
>Young me always got a kick out of hearing his rap. He had the last word on everything.
>He exuded confidence, sort of a charisma.
>Had a great smile, and seemed really nice.
>He also had a tough edge.
>One day when he was about 15, he just disappeared.
>Another kid took over his route.
>It was only some time later that I was told what happened to him.

His name was Tommy, btw.
>It turns out his parents were devout Catholics.
>And sort of strict in other ways.
>The dad, although a butcher, always dressed in a coat and tie.
>You'd seem him sitting in his living room, dressed in coat and tie, reading the paper after dinner.
>His wife kept house and always seemed to wear an apron.
>Everything they had was manicured and perfect.
>Even the butcher shop downtown was clean, and the father wore a clean white suit at work.
>For some reason they were unable to have kids.
>The city had a home for unwed mothers, and that's where the got Tommy.
>Handed to them by one of the Sisters.
>A real blessing.
>And since they'd gotten their son from "our holy mother the Church," it was only certain that one day they would return him to the Church.
>Sure he would be a blessing to the Church itself, as it had been for them, and who knows, they might even receive a "special indulgence," or whatever, for sending the boy back to them.
>There was a seminary up in the mountains south of the city.
>So the summer he was about to turn 16, Tommy simply disappeared.
>Some men came in a big black Buick and picked him up.
>We never saw him on the block again, not even once.
>People mentioned it in hush-hush tones, like something horrible had happened to him.
>It was only years later that I found out what had happened.

Continued...

Other things we couldn't do

>celebrate Halloween
>were not supposed to watch tv but we did anyway
>listen to any music that wasn't christian

The Halloween part still really bugs me, I had to watch other children dress up and get candy while we sat in the house and did nothing.

Wish I had more of the details.
>Be 10 years later, maybe more.
>Camping with some friends up in the mountains, chatting about where we grew up.
>By now it's post-Woodstock, a year or two after.
>One of the guys says, wait a minute.
>You lived on that street back then? Yeah....
>Oh my god, then you must know Tommy B___!
>Well, yeah. I actually hadn't thought much about him, since that summer he disappeared.
>After a few years Tommy had enough of life at the seminary.
>Come to think of it, no surprise really.
>He was too much of a partying good ol' boy to be a priest or whatever.
>They said he was the chief guru of some kind of huge cult.
>They had a piece of property farther back in the mountains.
>He'd grabbed all the post-Woodstock street people he could and brought them up there.
>They said he had absolute sway over a bunch of people.
>Lots of doting hippie chicks.
>Not surprised, he always was a smooth talker.
>They told me where he was. I was curious, but they made his cult sound sort of sinister.
>So I never put it at the top of my list.
>Years later I tried to find out. Someone said that a couple of priests went and found him.
>Told him not to worry about breaking vows, disappointing his parents, etc.
>He went into the service, somebody said Marines, but idk for sure.
>Saw a clipping years after that someone with same name retired as police chief in small town in Catskills.
>Don't know if that was him, but hope so. It would make a good ending.

It's serious. It's a primitive, but effective derivative of chaos magic. Its main goal, so far as i can identify, is to immanentize "The Happening", an apocalyptic event intended to create something like a national socialist utopia, so far as i can tell. think like ebolachan(PBUH) but refined. If your in to traditionalism or esoteric hitlerism, the parallels with KALKI should be apparent. It's a lot of fun. HAIL KEK!

We didn't celebrate any holidays except for christmas.

And since we were homeschooled we never had summer vacations either!

I know what you mean. Even on an anonymous board you cannot share what you have experienced because it would be hard for anyone to believe let alone grasp, and then there is always the possibility of recognition.

That is how I feel, and there is no escape just reality where they have measures in place to discredit, isolate, portray one as mentally ill, destroy the life you have tried to build or those you care for. I get it I really do, and I am sorry for what you are going through. Most of us have to walk through it alone to avoid becoming a spectacle, labeled, protecting those whom shared no part that we allowed into our "new" lives, or becoming a literal casualty.

We can keep walking, but we can never runaway from it all.

Not really a cult, but I was involved with Opus Dei for most of my childhood.
Happy to answer any questions

Roman Catholic here. Opus Dei? Close enough. You one of their freaky shut in Aryan looking kids with no social skills?

Sorry dude, no offense intended but my family was hardcore the the point of obsession and Opus Dei still made us look like heathens.
