Seems to be quartz attached to that lazuli, or perhaps a chunk of selenite. Each are bound to have their symbolic attributes all over the interwebs, but it's more than likely something Eastern they were going for, as that little charm totally looks like a dragonfly, and those are pretty commonly used to represent a handful of different things in Asian cultures. Native American or Egyptian are unlikely but possible alternatives as far as cultural theme goes, and naturally, those would have different meanings.

Oh finally. I was looking for one of these threads.

This symbol keeps popping up. I live in the central US, and I've seen it on an old lady's arm and some random book. I had this eerie feeling that I'd seen it before.

So I made a thread on /int/, and told them this. They couldn't match it to any language, western or oriental, and it isnt any font for E or F. One guy told me to come here.

What I didn't tell them was that I've been majorly obsessing over this ever since I first saw it. It kept working its way into my dreams.

Am I nuts? Does it mean something?

It could be a personal rune or sigil, kinda like a family crest. If Witches or the like exist it wouldn't be insane for them to have that kind of symbol for idenitification, like "Oh you're from the Fecilus Clan! I'm from Pubilius, ya Pleb." Or in a similar sense it being tied to native Americans. Be hilarious though if you did randomly find an actual Grimoire copy of that family at a bookstore.

But what you should do to see is look up and email an anthropologist or linguist, especially one well-versed in midwest cultures, to help you out.

Saw this the other day and wanted to take a picture of it to show you all and see if you could assist in picking apart it's meaning.

I don't know too terribly much about Freemasonry, but I do know that there are different degrees for individual Freemasons.

Apparently the 33rd degree is the highest degree you can be?

I can see that in the picture, but the rest of the notations within this are beyond me.

This symbol, carefully reproduced here by my own hand because it's hard to photograph engravings on silver, is hand engraved on a very, very old silverware set in my grandmother's possession. She got it decades ago from an elderly Jewish couple with no children who were downsizing for their final years. One of the couple told her it had been in the family for as long as anyone had ever known, he knew (I don't actually know it was that male's but I chose male pronouns for the story) it came over from the Old World, but nobody knew its origin that he had ever asked. The symbol is on every piece, excellent craftsmanship, possibly some of the best craftsmanship I've ever seen (In D&D terms, I would call this masterwork... if that helps anyone). I ran it through the Silversmith maker's mark database with no results (I mean I got a handful of matches but they were clearly wrong), and I tried reverse image searching it on Google to no avail. I've asked immigrants from around the world if it looks like their native script to no avail, only twice have I received positive answers: Once someone told me it was the language of symbols used by angels, that they put these marks on certain things to imbue them with power. The other time, completely independent and not knowing it had belonged to an old Jewish family, I was told that it was one of the symbols used by Solomon to channel angelic power and to bind demons.

I don't generally speaking believe in such things, but I would love to know either if they were right and I have extra planar celestial beings bound in silver in my house, or they were both crackpots & I have an obscure Aramaic symbol of long life and good soup or some such.

Also this is my first time using 4chan, so if I messed something up here or did something wrong I apologize & would like a correction as my family is very curious about this symbol. Thank you!
