From what I recall (and correct me if I'm wrong) Sheol was a place where the dead were cut off from god and aside from that, received no further punishment or reward and simply existed as shadows of their former selves.
Tartarus was a Greek underworld considered to be a realm distinct from Hades. While Hades had several parts, including areas of punishment, reward and some in common with Sheol, Tartarus was devoted exclusively to punishing the wicked and shared a lot in common with Abrahamic hell. It's also where the Titans were banished to.

Tartarus was a greek word that Christians in the first century used to describe the place that the angels were put in prison. It is also called "The Abyss." The general place of the dead, the shadowy underworld, is "Hades" in New testament Greek, which correlates with the Hebrew "Sheol"
