I just came back here to say that. I have seen videos of beheadings. i have seen pictures of guts strewn about the street. basically any kind of gore or any fucked up shit there is. none of it bothered me like this video did. EAS isn't quite the same as this. Most of those EAS videos seem legitimate, like they could actually be used somewhere. Stuff like Contingency and Weather Service are unique in that they bring up some scenario where shit seems so hopeless and fucked that even the government is turned against you. Ideological: It shows that the citizens are patriotic, loyal to their defeated government, unwilling to change their lives for the conquerer. It shows a level of psychological control that is intimidating even in the throes of defeat.

Practical: By depleting the native civilian population, you reduce the work force and tax income the conquerer can take advantage of. Rebuilding, organizing, and administrating in the conquered region will be that much harder and more expensive. It's a final fuck-you.
