I know a lot of supernatural creatures tied to water, but what about rain? Any monsters that are only supposed to come out in rain? Maybe something that brings rain.
I haven't been able to find much so far. There's of course a yokai, because there is a yokai for everything, in the Amefuri kozō that is supposed to bring rain and steal umbrellas.
I also found the Ame-onna who brings rain and is associated with bad luck and likes to lick her hand.
>Rain water
There's also Amefuri kozō, I guess. It's an umbrella so I suppose that counts.

The Thunderbird, perhaps.
Not 100% directly rain related, but ginny/jenny greentooth is a drowned looking girl that grabs people out of puddles.

Fox spirits like to get married when it is sun and rain at the same time. Japanese lore is easy mode with these things.

That's also called the "devil beating his wife" in some parts.

Seriously why Japan has a yokai for everything.
> Sunekosuri
>A mischievous yokai that appears during rainy nights especially in the Okayama perfecture. They would get in the way of people’s path, maybe nuzzle against the knees or weave in and out in between your legs and just makes it very difficult to walk.
>Other than the danger of tripping, the Sunekosuri does no harm to humans. The depictions of the Sunekosuri in drawings and other forms of media seem to always depict it as a small, furry animal which can either be cat-like or dog-like.
They have a yokai just for tripping people in the rain.
