The subconscious barriers you normally put up were temporarily lowered, and they let in a bunch of energy.

I think situations like this happen when we temporarily enter auto-pilot mode (eg. walking down a street in the same direction for so long that you stop thinking as critically about what you are doing).

It's like unintentional meditation.
