I tried making this thread on a few other sites, it usually gets derailed pretty quick.

I want more information on shills and social experiments online. How do you spot a shill? Where do you think they're active right now? Do you think they are effective?

I'll post some links to get the thread started,
Russia is well known for its internet shilling eg https://www.theguardian.com/world/2015/apr/02/putin-kremlin-inside-russian-troll-house

Tavistock institute may be doing experiments on GLP http://decryptedmatrix.com/why-cant-you-say-tavistock-on-godlike-productions/ (the owner, trinity, now goes by ghetto monk in case you wanna go check out the site)

>>
>>18024465
OP you only learn by experience

it's like either a gift that Jesus gives you..

or you gotta get out into the world and get street smart and learn shills for yourself

there's lots of them online... i mean lots!

and some of them are so complicated and complex and long-going in what they do

some even shill marriages!

so hey, listen, trust in God (Jesus), he will keep you safe, okay?

it's serious, and it's a big deal (clinton e-mails speak of half of the population being 'in slavery' and the other half being 'free' in the USA)

so take my advice, please, because it is true

you could also define shilling as those people in the world who are going to stand for their own independence and integrity and honesty and those who are not (those who are not and will do the bidding of their employers to shill are the shills)

God bless you

The shilling is a unit of currency formerly used in the United Kingdom, Australia, and other British Commonwealth countries.
The word shilling comes from scilling, an accounting term that dates back to Anglo-Saxon times, and from there back to Old Norse, where it means "division".

>yeah right like they could afford to hire shills their marketing budget is nonexistant
Most successful businesses spend a minimum of 10% of their revenue on marketing. If it's say, a 3 man development team for a game, they can do it for free.

>nah shills may exist but they're all on leddit and facebook
>why would they shill here? this place is a shit hole.
Combining these two. 4chan unique visitors per month: 27,700,000. Any marketing team or disinformation campaign would be insane not to target the users of this site. On a platform like Facebook, it is easier to be drowned out in the sea of information, as well as the disadvantage of people knowing they are being marketed to.

>everyone who disagrees with me is a shill
>muh evil shill boogeyman
Combining these as well. The 'shill' reply may be a bit overused, but I think it's good in the grand scheme of anonymous sites. People tend to think that the people they are interacting with on the chans are at least for the most part like themselves. The introduction of the shill meme in to the collective has at least made people more aware that ANYONE can post here and they may have an agenda.

to claim to be giving somebody money, abusing society's constructs for what they're actually intended to do, which is to help people

doing this to justify plunging innocent people into bizarre macabre days of darkness like the ones we're presently living in

what is right before God? do you think that it is a good thing to have society's social structures stand as falsehood and be abused?

what do you think is appropriate before the presence of God?

do you think that it's okay to ruin somebody's life, unwillingly, as long as you give them money in the way that you do afterwards?

i do not think that it is right before God, although I do not speak for God. i think it make a mockery of authority

Those are most probably shills, because what else? Autistic fans? Rather unlikely seeing how many different games and other things were advertised in such similar ways. Trolls? Which troll would make daily the same threads for weeks and make shitstorms in them for free? There were also AMAs on reddit where people said that they were paid to shill.
There also things like paid political trolls, who will spam comments on various articles, and who knows many other types of shillls.

shills will either tell you what you want to hear or do the exact opposite and say something polarizing. they also like to provide anecdotal evidence to support their stance. also they like to use rhetorical questions too. a really good one will know logical fallacies and how to use them to their advantage. they'll meme and use propaganda too. oh, they also like to present a false identity of themselves, like a fancy name.they will use profound language too.

also note that it can be difficult to differentiate a shill and a legit idiot. idiots often use the same tactics unwittingly. people who are delusional can resemble shill behavior too. shills play on ignorance and irrationality and like to tell half truths to tell a lie.

The CTR shills have been out in incredible force over the last few weeks. Then again you have nothing to compare it to but trust me they've invaded there and /int/ spreading pro-Clinton propaganda.

I dunno. Seems to me shilling Clinton on /pol/ is a doomed strategy, with a 100% chance to backfire. It would be loike shilling mixed race marriage on stormfront or JWed.

Could be part of a different strategy to diffuse and blur the lines of the shilling that goes on normally -- but would they use such a transparent strategy? Peraps the emperor 'as lost his clothes.
