Can we have a thread like this? What are some ideal jobs for /x/ or talk about your own employment.

Would be nice to get some career ideas.

Hard Mode: No peddling supernatural services to normies.

>librarian

Shits the most horrible job to try and get. To be legally considered a "librarian" you have to have a Masters in library science. If you want to be a school librarian you also have to take the teacher qualifications on top of that.

All for like 35K a year job.

Law enforcement. They see some crazy shit, some of it occult in nature, other times they are called to check out houses where poltergeist activity is happening and the people living there just don't know what to do so their first action is to call the cops.

Other things they are routinely exposed to is mass reportings of UFOs, if a UFO is over a certain town dozens of people will call it in.

Then you even have the occasional Bigfoot happenings. One of the most famous supposed Bigfoot vocalizations was recorded by a Sheriff.

He can be heard saying "Oh my God".

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3sdTEWxNUiI

Another good one, the Navajo reservation police had National Geographic follow them on an investigation into things that were hiding out in the caves, they filmed what are known as the "Navajo Howlers" which some believe to be skinwalkers.

On the note of law enforcement, you could consider applying for Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission or your state/country equivalent.

Note that you'll have to be comfortable being outdoors, alone, a lot. On the other hand, you get to wear the uniform, carry a weapon, and in some cases even get a car.

By far, these are some of the nicest law enforcement officers you will ever meet.

Also having a job where you get paid to drive around in nature in a boss truck would be badass even if nothing strange ever happened.

Machinist. Nothing too strange usually. At least not the kind of strange people are interested in. For example, the shop I work in tends to get flooded anytime it rains heavy, and so once I got the forklift stuck in the mud indoors because of it. That's not something you see everyday, but it's hardly anything spooky or paranormal.

The most /x/ career would be to contracted work on black budget projects (if they exist), the likes of which John Leer and others spoke of, where the govt (supposedly) is working on dimensional portals, bases on other planets, deep underground bases, things like that.

The pay is extremely high in exchange not just for your rare skills which would be needed but to further ensure you don't disclose anything to the outside world. You'd see and experience things that are amazing but you would never be able to share it with anyone, not even your own wife (if you had one).
>>
>>18022390

>Implying those people live longer than the project(s)

Oh no I'm under contract not to say anything! They kill them.

Librarian is a job title, it's not regulated so there's no "legally" involved.

To be a school librarian does have requirements, the same ones as with any teaching position. Most places require a certification test and want a degree. It varies state to state, as does the pay. Most places also require a clean criminal record.

If you're interested, it's not just enough to find a University with a Library Science department (which is tough by itself). They need to have American Library Association (ALA) accreditation. If not, your degree won't open as many doors.
>>
A friend of mine was offered a job that involved maintaining the grounds of a cemetery at night.

For some reason he refused.

I install electrical components and lights on refurbished boxes on the backs of ambulances. In other words, I detail and refurbish mobile haunted houses. I'm sure there is lots of good gore from what I've worked on so far.

The first truck we did when I moved to the newest facility was a truck for pediatric patients. The box had little colored hand prints on it and smiling animal stickers on the inside cabinets.

I don't make bank, but I am learning tons of skills that I can carry with me to other jobs so it is pretty sick. I got good healthcare and I'm due for a raise. I can live comfortably, but not lavishly.

Scary job stories threads always get good stories from anons working positions like that.

Those are some of my fav threads.

In 2015 I worked overnights at a Circle K.

Now beyond the occasional drunk, druggy, and schizophrenic person nothing out of the ordinary ever actually happened except for one night that I can't explain.

Behind the counter is the cigarette rack, under it are the drawers to store literally thousands of $´s in cartons. Typically cigarettes are a high theft priority for niggers, homeless people, thugs, and druggies.

So one night around 3am I'm cleaning the roller grills when a customer comes in, I walk back to ring him up and see a drawer is hanging wide open. No one else was in since I left the front counter. I think 'someone got me, damn.' Ring up the customer, then close the store for 5 minutes to check the security footage to see who robbed me. I lock the door and go into the back room.

On the camera feed, at 3:33am the drawer just slides open on its own. I attribute it to vibrations from the machines in the store, but it's never ever happened before or since.

Go back up front to unlock the door, as I'm turning the locking mechanism I hear a loud CLUNK, and it fucking jams up locking me inside the store with no way out except the emergency door.

Having a job to do, I try to unlock/unjam it. For an hour I struggled to unjam that locking mechanism as customers piled up out front laughing at me for getting locked inside my own store.

Then at 4:44am-ish it just unjams suddenly with ease.

...To this day I can't explain it beyond my gas station had a ghost who pranked the shit out of me...

I'm a nurse who works night shift in an area hospital. Hospitals are just creepy places, and it is rumored one of the rooms on my floor is haunted by the image of an 8yo boy. He has been seen by several patients who are concerned that he is lost and perhaps needs some assistance.

I've been a paramedic for 10 years. Worked both cities(Boston) and rural upstate NY. I wouldn't say so much paranormal stuff but I'll tell you, you see just how fucking bizarre people are. You go into their homes with little or no warning and see how they live. It's pretty unreal. You also get the occasional pt in the middle of a legit psychotic break and some of the things they say creep you the fuck out. Also people will confess the oddest things to you on a long distance transport. Used to do a lot of juvenile psych transfers and got to read the shrink's notes. Stuff they observed and the behavior of the pts. Mostly just to pass the time. Some kids are really fucking messed up.
It's a fairly easy field to get into. Though for the most part not nearly as exciting as TV portrays it. But of you're looking for a part time gig you should check it out.

One that stands out was a suicide. Or suicide attempt rather. It was an elderly lady, mid 70's. Paper delivery person noticed papers piling up and called. We get inside and the whole apartment was clean. I mean like OR sterile clean. Also it was a fucking time capsule from the late 50's-early 60's. Turns out she was widowed years ago with no other family and lived an isolated life from then on. No TV, no microwave. Ancient toaster and the oldest refrigerator I'd ever seen. She'd left out a note of sorts. Bank accounts, some phone numbers etc. Next to the sink were 2 empty bottles of Advil the cotton packaging from the bottles was right next to it. For the record, Anvil OD is a particularly ugly way to go. So we go into the bedroom and she's laying on her back. On the wall next to the bed there's a huge brown blood splatter where she'd sat up and vomited blood. On her, packed in her mouth, down her chin and on her neck was caked dried blood. So I'm thinking she's a goner. I take out the leads from the life pack to run a strip and confirm asystole. As I'm putting the leads on her she suddenly gasps and tries to sit up. Almost shit my pants. Like something out of that movie Se7en. So now I have to clear her airway and pull these nasty brown blood clots out of her airway and ventilate her all the way to the ED. Still creeps me out to this day. Not the blood or anything but thinking of this forgotten, lonely woman living in isolating and depression for decades before she decided to kill herself.
