I want to adapt this into a short film, does anybody know how to find who wrote these sorts of things?

Source is right there.

for real though, why would you need a source? it's a 4chan post. sounds like a good project though, how will you convey that it's lighter fluid through the medium though? the audience can't smell it, and it's only really a realization that can be made by the protagonist.

I just don't want to take credit for the original idea because it's gold, I suppose it could be credited to 'anonymous' (not the group).
Yeah it's exactly as you said, the protagonist would have to reveal it, I'm imagining that either the homeless person drops the can of lighter fluid and making it really blatantly obvious what the can is Or he could get partially lit on fire, I haven't started writing it yet but I have put the original in my owns words.

lite it on fire.

This is an anon board, therefore it's public forum, and no anon can take credit

How about
>protagonist tells the bum to fuck off
>gets out of his sleeping bag
>decides to light a cigarette
>a spark hits the sleeping bag
>sleeping bag catches fire, is shown burning
>shot of protagonist's shocked face
>fade to black

Actually all posts you make are your property. Look at the very bottom of the page

I was actually about to do this but chose another project instead. I was going to show him sniffing the sleeping bag with a confused look and then he looks around to spot a gas can laying nearby. You would have to plant some seeds early on though. Like have the tv at his parents house talking about a serial arsonist on the loose. Playing in the background but loud enough where you can just hear it. Best of luck. Don't write anything you can't film.

Filmmakers steal shit all the time, anon. How many times have you read an interview where they say "inspired by something I saw in the newspaper/saw on tv/yadayadayada?"
Most fiction is in some way a ripoff of something else.
i was contacted by a big studio in australia because they thought i wrote the russian sleep experiment creepypasta because i posted it on a website a looong time ago, they kept telling me they needed my permission because they couldn't find any earlier post of it

Just make it and say that the author was anonymous. That's what I do when I quote stupid shit off /pol/, so I can't see it failing in this medium.

Great idea, but about the copyright thing, there's pretty much no chance in hell that you could ever get in trouble for it.
honestly, this is one of the problems with 4chan being anonymous. There are so many good stories on here, that it would be very difficult to adapt into anything else simply because of the problem of properly sourcing it. The Ausfag story comes to mind, I always thought that story would be great as a non greentext horror novella, but it will probably never happen.

what happened? did they ever make the movie?
