Due to some family-related dilemmas, I can't use the scanner to draw my usual traditional images. So... I busted out the tablet and started drawing some random shit.

Tablet's not my usual media since due to the lack of drawing on a visual surface, but fuck it!

Here's a swirly man!

Holy shit on a popsicle, these are great. Some artists lose their personal touch when dealing with tablets. That's certainly not your case.

Also, I've been working on the last ECB comic of the season. Hope you guys like it when it's done.

>So after a brief review, I've decided to remove the majority of part one from the chronological order of the site. There's a lot of grammatical errors and scripting stuff that needs to be tightened up, but my real concern comes from the art. To put it frankly, it's terrible. It's lazy, sloppy, and not as lively/detailed/descriptive as it should be. It's always been my intention to re-do the art for part one, but I didn't realize at the time that it was as poorly done as it is. Slacking off and having a packed schedule didn't help out the situation at all.
>The story starts off where the juicy stuff is at, and the original stuff is still there, just not marked under chronological. It's not a big loss because the entire intro was botched from the start anyway. I added it into the series at the last minute because I liked the idea, but it shows it's weakness in it's execution. Maybe one day in the near future I'll get around to fixing it, but at this point it's best to stick to the original plan.

for those of you who have no clue what's going on this is where I post my comic sorry for the spew of text

I've never called someone out for being underage or a 'summerfag' because neither of those things are necessarily real determining factors of ignorance, but man do you sound like a bitter 12 year old. All of your observations lack any depth or consideration. You're basing this all of of four artist in one thread. Everything you observed you could've come across in a matter of minutes so opinion immediately discarded. Can't wait for you to delete your post in the next hour to try and save face.
>>
>>17994347
See, you lost all credibility when you attacked the art. For one thing, this thread had barely started, so it's not like you have a huge sample size to judge from. Second, these threads are pretty casual and more for showing off personal projects, so there are a lot of roughs. If you want a better idea of what these threads are usually like, go look at the last one.

If you just came here to be a dick about the general attitude of the thread, I'm sorry you hate fun, but this is hardly some tumblr hugbox just because we don't all call each other autistniggajoofag.

And for the record, I'm not an artist here, just an anon who is having fun and isn't mistaking this thread for some snooty /ic/ review.

Hey now. I agree with the fellow that weak work should not equal praise without critique. Getting a participatory award does not further improvement IMO.

Art is a competitive and/or somewhat hostile hobby. Getting harsh critique is part of improvement. I enjoy the critical minds, and i think they should be here to avoid circle-jerking, which is the most horrible thing that could happen to any draw-group!
>>
>>17995723
Circle-jerking is bad too, you're right, but these threads attract too many newfags whose argument basically boils down to "it's shit and you're all autistic children" with no constructive criticism whatsoever. And I stand by my point that this isn't /ic/ either. CC is fine, as long as, you know, it's legitimate.

>>17995682
>>17995723
>>17995702
Calling these decent is kinda weak considering what you get in most drawthreads on this site (outside of ic). This is a perfect example of formal training, skill, and talent, so 'decent' is a severe understatement. I understand the value of 'harsh' criticism, hell IMO there really isn't such a thing as harsh criticism, if it's for the improvement of an artist' skills.
>The only reason that i don't spend time critiquing others in this thread is 1.That my art has a significant amount of flaws that I struggle with working on and improving myself and 2. A lot of the artist here have expressed that they are trying to cultivate their skills. Although I have the knowledge to critiques others, I don't feel like I have the jurisdiction from a hypocritical stand point.

>Tl;Dr:I do believe these threads need criticism, but in good taste, and it's cool as long as it ain't comin from me. I don't have the heart/skill for it.

^^ To clarify this ^^ and response to these:
>>17995786
>>17995817
>>17995829

Good art only becomes better through vigorous study and critique. Be it by others or one self. However, the critique needs to be constructive, or else it fails. Saying 'you guys art suck' is bad critique. Saying 'the arm looks wonky, you ought to study the pose and try again' is good critique.

Anon having positive opinion about art is OK.
Anon expressing opinion about art in general is also OK.
Anon critiquing specific artwork with negative response without constructive critique is NOT OK, as it furthers no learning.
Drawfags getting butthurt is also NOT OK.
>>
>>17995854
Sounds right to me.
>>
>>17995723
this is a good concept and composition but, i think it is undermined considerably by the poor rendering of anatomy. the proportion of the hips and legs is wrong in relation to the upper body. the hands, knees, and feet are poorly drawn.

hands and feet are hard to draw; it's worth the time to do lots of little sketches on the side to work out the proper angles and articulations for them. If you don't have a model handy, you can always image search examples. i've found that some of the best examples are found in classical sculpture. Hellenistic and renaisance sculpture has great examples of hands and feet as well as fabric and drapery folds, etc. always worth the time to study the masters.

https://www.google.com/search?q=hellenistic+sculpture&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjjqOmq6KrOAhVJbSYKHcR4DF4Q_AUICCgB&biw=1063&bih=563

also, there's burne hogarth anatomy studies. his drawings are greatly exaggerated but are done so purposely in order to illustrate and make clear the way the body works. good stuff.

https://www.google.com/search?q=burne+hogarth+feet&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwi05q_E6arOAhWCJiYKHbG8APEQ_AUICCgB&biw=1063&bih=563
>>
>>17995926
Not the artist so I can't say for sure, but I think the lack of proper proportion was intentional. It just seems weird for the person to have such a solid grasp on basic concepts (including proportion in this one >>17995469) and then miss the mark so often on this one. It's very noticable in the lower half of the body and the anatomy does appear to be very of and exaggerated (which leads me to see it as intentional). There's also a lack of definition and detail in the appendages (in comparison to the rest of the drawing) which leads me to think that this was still a work in progress. But, then again I could be completely wrong.
>Also excellent job on the critique and posting references to use. Excellent example of how shit like this should go.

Sorry it took a while, the tablet didnt have batteries and then the driver had to be reinstalled. Wacoms, am i right?

Also, my attempt was to show that depth perception does a ton on a picture, and that the horn he is touching does not follow the lines of depth. That makes the horn kind of wonkey. It also makes the picture wonkey, as its in the center focus. If you play around with the whole deconstruction of mass into simple structures, then its a bit easier to see the issue.

>>17998359

Would you believe me if the first thing I did after waking up was to check this thread in anticipation to a full-body red line of my image? Haha! I really should show more confidence in my work.

Nevertheless, I see what you mean (literally, lol.) The horn needs more rounding out and segmentation between the curves to really bring out its twist. (I believe the smaller horns showed this, but I failed to bring that out in the main one; go fig.) Nice touch on the lower end of the tongue too. I felt something was off when I was working on that part. Your lines on the hands aren't as plentiful as I thought, but I definitely use them to fix some of the subtle issues with them.

Overall, you were awfully generous with your lines when it came to the limbs. I honestly thought the legs would be the main culprit due to how wonky they look. Then again... Mr. Goatman's got all kinds of strange shit going on with his body, so I suppose artistic liberty can be thrown that way, lol.

Anyways, thanks, Eyes! I'm really excited to see someone with a nice grasp on art formals in the thread. Your work is exceptionally defined with your use of musculature and the subtle definitions you give them with certain poses. Sadly, I lack that in my own work, despite the compliments I get from my style's expressive qualities.

I'll be sure to groom Mr. Goatman's big horn for a second showing before the night's over, lol.

Thank you!
>>
>>17999488
I decided against full-body lining it because it does not follow any specific body anatomy structure, but if you want i could do a goat version that does?

I figured it was like you said, 'artistic liberty', and i did not want to go against it. The fingers were mainly redlined to keep a touch on where i should lay the lines for the horn. Thats my main target. Your style is very exciting, it has a unique feel to it and i think you ought to cultivate that. If you want anatomy, studies of the sculptures that >>17995926 posted will help greatly, or else there are anatomy books like those of Joseph Sheppard. I own a copy of each of these below and they are fucking great:

https://www.amazon.com/Anatomy-Complete-Guide-Artists-Dover/dp/0486272796
http://store.doverpublications.com/0486267237.html

On amazon you can buy them used suuuuper cheap and thats what i usually do.
>>
>>17999677

I'm intrigued to see what you'd come up with, so feel free if you have the intent.

It's very true though: I purposefully gave it an outlandish anatomy. I tend to make that a staple with my creature designs. But... I feel there's an underlying excuse for my lack of practice into figure drawing, lol.

Personally, I don't like throwing around the 'artistic liberty' thing, because I've been in a lot of critiques where some students coined that phrase in defense against negative criticism. However, I suppose it isn't a bad phrase altogether. Good 'ole art-making - the two-faced beast of craftsmanship!

I see what you mean with the fingers, too. I think I'll still do touch-ups regardless though; just to be doubly sure, lol.

And thank you. I'm flattered you see some level of uniqueness in my style. I often worry my drawing skills are dependent on creativity and unique design with less attention to proper formal training. I've consistently had art lessons as far back as grade school, but I've always been more attached to my self-taught lessons than the atypical still-life lesson.

Nice anatomy book btw! I'll definitely take a look at it since the hard cover is so cheap. I recently got $550 in scholarship funds, so I hope to pool those into some new art supplies this semester. Maybe I'll add this book to my shopping list, hehe.

I spiced it up for you. I imagined it was a flute of some sort that it was dancing and playing on, and the original is quite stiff to say the least so i added some movement too. Comparing the two you can see the difference. Contrapost to create flow. Moving balance between the nose and the feet by moving one leg under the other. Bent the neck upward to create tension and movement musclewise.

Darn it, I knew my original had some stiffness, lol! I really like your rendition of it though, and will save this for future reference. I'll still fix up the horn, but I think I'll not lose my shit over the overall image.

Apologies to the anon who requested this image though. I feel like I'm hampering the effort I put into his idea, and might be affecting his/her impression on it. (I tend to do that when I get overly critical with my work.)

>>17999872

You've got some excellent skill in anatomy, so I'd personally love to see more, but I'm kinda worried that with /x/ being an SFW board, your art might be deleted. You might have to post a censored version on the imageboard and provide a link to the original.

I'm with Eyes though: >>17999882

>I suppose as long as we label it 'fine art' or body-studies, its fine?

I feel this is a justifiable reason if the art itself isn't intended to be smut or presents itself as smutty. I don't see that in your work. I merely see an appreciation for the human form with some demonic touch-ups.

Apologies if we're making your opinions seem limited. We always support more faces to join in the OC threads. It's just a bummer that /x/ is a blue board. (Well... it's both good and bad. Otherwise, /x/ just be spooky /d/, lol.)

If the movie had come out in like 2006 it would've been passable. Everything is forced as hell. Content without substance I guess. Instead of showing the audience that the villians are villains they just tell you they are and you're supposed to take thee word for it. Same applies for the 'we're a family; we're a team' bullshit. And that's the same for everything else. There was no development of anything at all. I can't properly express or acknowledge all of the flaws in a text format. I enjoyed myself, but for all of the wrong reasons. I'm a little distracted right now, but would love to give a rundown of the flaws of the movie if anyone gives a shit. Interesting thing is that Leto's Joker wasn't bad. It was the only aspect that I had cared about going into the movie. He was as scary as you'd expect the Joker to be (but they kinda lay the crime boss thing pretty heavy) but they didn't make him funny. He hardly gets any screen time but it couldn't have hurt to give him a couple of jokes. I'll try to find an appropriate place on /co/ to complain but if any wants some details I'll try to share.
>>
>>18000475
>didn't make the Joker funny
>He hardly gets any screen time

Well, I, for one, am not wasting my time. There was a slim chance anyway. It's annoying that people focus more on Joker's murderous insanity, and forget, you know, he's the JOKEr, and does all the crazy stuff he does for the lulz.

Drew a Reaver

Reavers are a vicious type of Geist whom are beings of Rage and Hatred. They are usually made up of a single wisp however, multiples can come together to form a Reaver if they all have the same disposition. Reavers attack anything living on sight and consume their flesh and conciousness to add to its own power... when Reavers manifest they typical stay in a semi physical form until dissipated or it gains enough energy to become a greater Geist form. Unlike Wisps, Black dogs and other lesser Geists, Reavers once dissipated do not take long to reform and usually come back at nearly the same strength at which they originally manifested. Geists can conjure all sorts of attack magic with relative ease, and their touch and clawing can sap the life of their prey very quickly...
an interesting thing about Reavers is they are attracted to loud noise, as there have been cases of groups of Reavers crashing raves and slaughtering the participants. Reavers also ignore undead beings unless attacked by them, and for the most part, ignore animals unless needing to sap them for energy to keep their form stable... Reavers seem to specifically target Sentient beings.
>>
>>18001041

Thanks Optiluiz! I figured after doing some constructive drawing, it'd be nice to revisit my don't-give-a-shit-about-formals graphic style, lol.

And the next comic should come along well this semester. I have two classes that are going to finish half-way through the it, and that'll leave me ample amounts of time to work on the comic. That's withholding school holidays too.

I'm hoping it's an extra sad edition, lol!

>>18001050

>>18001065
Its just an odd quirk about them... they are perfectly docile around even Sentient Zombies... Reavers usually form packs, but once they form into a Reaver from a Wisp or a group of wisps they can no longer merge together and have to rely on energy consumption to grow in power. Reavers aren't something your average ghost hunter wants to be close enough to catch on video because once a Reaver has seen you, it will hunt you down and it will kill you. Only thing that slows them down is unlike Black Dogs, Reavers lose their ability to phase through objects once they manifest... making them able to be captured by physical means, the bad part is, things they usually come into contact with tend to decay even if well maintained, meaning any sort of Cell or Cage is only a limited obstacle for them.
>>
>>18001075
ooh i like mary. hehe maybe theyre long lost sisters :)
>>
>>18001086

Nifty! I kinda feel sorry for them now since their violent nature is an incidental result of them amalgamating into a single entity and requiring large amounts of energy in the process. So they're affected by physical means of capture, but it usually doesn't last too long to be effective.

I have a plan! Have one chase after a human who leads it into a rocket ship. Lock said rocket ship, and fire it into space! Don't worry about the guy. He'll be fine! I swear!

It could work, though once the Reaver dissipates back into a wisp which can survive with no energy intake. Though wisps wander aimlessly so it'll likely never return to earth... also thats taking into account the Reaver doesn't kill the bait then head straight to the large energy / heat source that is the engine in an attempt to absorb all the energy given off... which would be very bad.

Speaking of which, have I posted the poem that's supposed to go alongside the Eldritch Knight project? It's a work in progress, as I'm more of a prose guy, but I might as well share it if I haven't already. I've gone a while without sleep so the brain's not exactly working at 100% capacity.

GeistIceWraith001.jpg
257KB, 570x817px
Wraiths are a common manifestation of Wisps and Will o Wisps. They are mostly insentient wanderers that most pester the living and aren't much of a threat unless threatened... though when threatened they have been known to tear people limb from limb. Wraiths are often looked at with pity as they don't have any aim or goal unlike Geists like Black dogs and Reavers whom wish to kill everything. No Wraiths just wander for the most part, average encounters with wraiths involve people just observing their sometimes odd behavior... as Wraiths will do oddly strange human things like open and close doors, or open fridges and knock food onto the floor, some even attempt to eat. Though some physical items can dissipate them it usually takes enchanted items to get them to disappear for any significant amount of time.

Ice Wraiths are though to be collections of wisps whom died from the cold or in areas of bitter cold. Ice Wraiths are dangerous because while regular Wraiths cool an area significantly... Ice Wraiths freeze the area around them, so even while they do not mean harm upon something, their mere presence can freeze small animals and plants to death very quickly. Oddly enough, Ice Wraiths are actually repelled by heat... though nothing stays hot near them for particularly long. Like normal wraiths, enchanted items are most effective against Ice Wraiths... usually something with a Molten enchantment as a fire enchantment usually isn't hot enough.

It is a twisted land in which Mana poisons and infests anything that dares step on the tainted grounds... but great treasures come from these lands.

Stickermen are Agony mutants, people who have been exposed to too much tainted mana and whos bodies have mutated and twisted into horrible abominations. Stickermen are low level mutants and are only dangerous in large numbers, however, they can rip through the protective suits that shield would be adventurers must wear to last in these harsh lands. Stickermen are surprisingly fast, and their viscous drool drips onto their hands allowing them to crawl along walls briefly. Sup,/x/!I seemed to have missed out on a lot of things but that's due to the fact that I haven't been drawing much lately, but now I managed to get myself back in action and start up some art.I did got a glimpse of the small argument that took place and I was going to put some word but I decided not to since everything that I was going to say was already posted.I always found this thread as a small place to post art and generally have fun while discussing.Of course I for one would always welcome critique to help improve those in need.

Anyway here's a WIP of some eldritch monstrosity I'm working on

yes sort of. I threw together the photoshop layers from that drawing i did yesterday. starting with a sketch, then a multiply layer to colour everything, then a screen layer to colour the black lines, then a brightness adjustment layer/ custom mask to bring out the top highlights and put everything else in shadow, then I paint over it all again. It seems time consuming but I'm so used to it that it's super fast. I'd go into more detail if you wanted though. : -)

>>18001808
your linework is really cool. what pen are you using?
>>
>>18001844
Thats such a weird process, but whatever works for you man! I think i would rather focus on one or two layers tops to commit myself to the lines. Fucking up (or being bad at it all) would be easier to correct i think.
>>
>>18001860
Haha, really? I usually flatten it out after I'm done with each layer but I was being lazy so I kept all those layers. usually people say that using more layers/adjustment layers is a crutch, and painting on minimal layers is difficult. do you do digital art too?

also adopting moniker for clarity

Absolutely nothing worth mentioning, although i wish to get more into it.
This is from 2012, a good year of mine (artwise). I love the whole Count of Montecristo kind of look, but i want to draw digitally without the lines.
My biggest challenge is the hand to eye coordination. Used to looking at where my pen is. With digital stuff, i have to look elsewhere.

Thats not bad at all! it's just practice with using a tablet, can take a few months of constant use for it to be second nature. oh I dont paint with lines usually, i do it with sketchy stuff. this is what my art looks like usually. (not halfheartedly censored) once you get the hang of painting digitally it's just a matter of painting over everything and not worrying about lineart.
>>
>>18001897
Oh cool thanks for the advice. Do you use references for the detailed ones like that one?
>>
>>18001933
Anytime. If I care about how it looks I'll use a shit tonne of different anatomical references or self reference for the anatomy, but for most stuff I just improvise.

Here is a being from the Broken Plane... they are sentient beings called Fleks, Docile and very submissive, they lived under the constant fear of Granglers for years until the treaty of Morkathis was brought forth and oversaw by the Man of Plague Morkathis and his minions the Gruglers... Granglers and Fleks, after years of attempts at intigration with eachother finally managed to form a strong bond and alliance... living in peace with eachother as the Fleks taught the Granglers agriculture and the Granglers taught Fleks warfare forming a unique alliance where a Grangler king and queen and Flek king and queen would all four rule their small empire equally. Eventually this small empire would integrate other species into their small country, including Wirdlings, Euguns, and even the once despised Gruglers whom kept the peace during the treaty drafting.

Fleks are a sought after species on midgard... their submissiveness is deemed attractive as well as their thin frames and other unique features. one of these unique features is their inability to be deceitful... They have bioluminscent cells on their ears that glow depending on their emotions... this glow can give away their true intentions, something that once kept the peace among their people, made difficulties for them when they joined others in alliances. Fleks are two gendered, and have sexual dimorphism, the females being shorter than the males, also males tend to have longer arms and larger claws. Fleks are very rare on Midgard as they do not have a large enough population to effectively breed a population... however many travel to Midgard by accent through the use of Gates which pepper the broken planes due to its unstable nature. Despite Fleks' inclusive and accepting nature on their home plane, ones from Midgard tend to be guarded and cautious and prejudice as Midgardians especially humans (who make up the majority) and elves are well known for their deceitful, cutthroat, selfish ways.

Granglers are large, muscular beast people whom were once nomadic and subsisted of raiding other species... when the treaty of Morkathis was signed they settled with the Fleks and calmed down their warring, brutal ways in favor of friendly physical competition and the gaining of knowledge. Though acceptance of their mental limitations was difficult for them, they and the Fleks they allied with, treated each other as equals.
Granglers are much stronger than humans of Midgard, able to easily batter humans to hamburger if needed, this has given them a monstrous reputation on midgard. They do not have a sustainable population on Midgard and are a rare sight, usually tending to live toward familiar species such as Fleks and Euguns. They are boisterous and loud beings who love competition and love fighting, though this often leads to trouble when not in the company of species whom can't handle their ways. This often leads to them being outcasts on Midgard, needing the help of the diplomatic but xenophobic Fleks in order to carve out an existence on Midgard. Due to their lack of strong magical skill, Granglers have an extreme, almost comical fear of Geists, often becoming petrified or hysterical at the sight of even a wisp, relying on Fleks to dispose of the beings for them.

Here is an Acheri
Geists that tend to make the living around it very ill. Their supernatural diseases infect people and slowly break them down until death. They are passive, mostly wandering unless threatened, if one has manifested it is best to dissipate it quickly as proximity of them can quickly kill infants, children and the elderly.
Not only do Acheri bring their supernatural disease, but they seem to bolster existing diseases, making them more fatal... and are attracted to brings whos bodies are being invaded by foreign bodies... they were a common sight during the Black plague and the Spanish flu outbreak and the North American Zombie outbreak of the 1980's. When they manifest, they are difficult to find as they prefer to hide in dark, dank, cold places... they do usually have some means of attack, claws and teeth, that carry an infectious bite, but are fragile and their semi physical form is easily dispatched by physical weaponry.
Acheri can infect other Geists, such as Wraiths, making them manifest in new forms, like Plague Wraith and Disease Wisp... They are also easy to track as they leave behind a mucus like substance on surfaces they touch... Like Reavers, they lose their ability to phase through solid objects once they manifest, however when they dissipate they leave behind Disease wisps which can still cause illness and must be dissipated to end the ghastly plague they bring.

>North American Zombie outbreak of the 1980's
What
>>
>>18002827
I use a comic book / video game lore that I made that is sort of an alternate history of the world. In the 1980's there were a couple of Zombie outbreaks in North America that resulted in them having to wall off a few towns and cities, now referring to them as dead nations. Zombies in Dead nations are mostly Feral, with some sentient ones living in the dead nations to avoid persecution by the living. Though it wasn't the only Zombie outbreak, it was the worst one in North America, and the clean up effort / risk is so great, they continue to maintain the fences to keep the zombies in... now Dead nations are tourist attractions, though the tours are typically from the outside of the fence perimeter, one in West Virginia allows people to actually travel within the city and view the dead in their natural habitat. Undead rights activists claim these practices are cruel as during the tours, they sometimes allow tourists to shoot undead within the walls of the dead nations, sometimes hitting and killing Sentient zombies without any penalty of law... Zombies come in several varieties depending upon the infection or if they're Necromatic (or raised by necromancy). Few strains of the Zombie virus' allow Ferals to become Sentients and the durability and breedability depends on what strain the zombie has been infected by... as an example, one strain discovered by Gerald Herman Icket in the 1910's called Icket's disease, or simply Icket, is a Zombie that can actually regenerate limb loss, however the limb is typically weaker than its original until used a great deal, this phenomenon is unexplained to this day. Ickets brain activity doesn't stop when the head is severed, in fact the head remains active days after every other function has ceased... there is no explanation for how this is accomplished, leading Zombologists to determine that the Icket disease may be magical in origin.

Loas are incredibly powerful Geists... ones that are usually a massive collection of Wisps, or have amassed energy for thousands of years to manifest as these great beings. Loa were worshipped as gods during the clash between the Outworldians and the Followers of Light... though they were not actually gods, but merely Geists who managed to manifest as very powerful forms. One of these surviving Ancient Loa is Papa Legba... it is unknown if he is a collection of Wisps or if he was a singular wisp given sentience... what is known is he feeds off of Geists and the living, able to pull the consciousness out of a person even if their death is one that would not produce a Wisp. Legba is mostly harmless and reasonable as he does not wish to actively kill unless he has to, instead he makes deals with the living, using his magics to grant wishes in exchange for artifacts, or sacrifices to increase his power, always trying to jocky for power like the other Ancient Loa... he also has a distaste for newly manifested Loa whom break down the perception that Loa are gods... going as far as offering rewards for the dissipation of New Loa and the capturing of their wisps for him to consume. Legba, like other Loa can only be harmed with enchanted and magical items, and when dissipated, will regenerate back into his Loa form if enough energy is still present in the area. He is incorporeal however is still able to damage and effect the corporeal. Legba is not one to be trifled with as he is fully capable of taking on throngs of would be Ghost hunters... however there are geists whos power even Loa fear.

Spirits are a common type of Geist, usually formed from a single wisp or a dominant wisp subdues and merges with lesser wisps to manifest a spirit. Though spirits will look similar to the person whos consciousness formed them. They do not always have memories of who they were in life and even though they look like they should be intelligent beings... like shades, how intelligent they are can very from spirit to spirit... Spirits are closer to traditional hauntings as they phase between corporeal and incorporeal... manipulating objects, sapping heat from things around them to maintain their physical form. They are usually harmless, but when threatened can lash out violently... They are easily harmed by enchanted items though some unenchanted items can dissipate them... They take longer to regenerate and re manifest than simpler Geists as a full body is harder to maintain... often the manifestation has to forgo detail in order to hold their form together. They also can be seen accompanied by Wisps, Will o Wisps, Shades, and even Wraiths... though instinctively avoid Reavers, Black dogs and other Ravenous Geists.

You should totally do a master-post with all these creatures and their descriptions. I'd love to see more of their world, though, not just these awesome characters.

>>18002754
Holy shit I love this. You know, I've been trying to decide on an appearance for an alien race in my Eldritch Knight mythos, that serves the Elder God and sort executes his bidding with technology so advanced that it appears to us as magic, so is this guy part of a larger story or something? I'd love to use something that looks so lovecraftian and spooky.

In my story, this Elder Race observes and directs humanity in preparation for the coming of their master, who will feast on all intelligent beings. After that, they 'plant' life on the dead planet once more, and start the cycle over again.

Oh god it would be huge... the stuff I've shown so far doesn't even scratch the surface... its a world I've crafted an entire past, present and future with, adopting it into a Larp, a few actual games, a table top game and comics and stories... its something I've been working on far longer than I should have...
Its got a ton of lore and creatures and characters and storylines and worlds... I mean even just explaining how Planes and alternate universes and alternate timelines and 3rd and 4th dimensional beings would take up pages. I've even made ancestry for some characters and entire lives for prominent ones, legal systems for various species and countries based on the various races and species, as well as biology for even some of the strangest creatures...

and honestly I think it would be boring as shit, I'm not a great writer, my world is mostly stupid shit... its nice of you to say great things about these creatures I've been posting... but I dunno...
>>
>>18004269

Yeah, I thought it would be a lot of work. But if you ever change your mind, I'd love to see it. Kind of like a 'story bible' or compendium of knowledge of this alternate world. I for one would be very interested in that. It's up to you, though.

And I just had an idea for a horror short film mostly filmed via fraps or a similar program, focusing on an innocent internet mystery that sort of keeps getting worse. Partially inspired by The Conspiracy movie.
>>
>>18004393
I feel like my ideas are dumb. That the world I made was a waste of time. And if I explain to much it'll be obvious that it is shit. I dunno i get shit on so much it's hard for me to see any worth in my work... Now I am afraid to post more here in case things get stupid or no one likes large aspects of my lore
>>
>>18004479
People make threads on this board thinking that they can seriously conjure a demon chick to suck their d**** because of their non-existent sex lives. Can you really think that putting honest effort into a project you're passionate about is a waste of time when you know about that?

I mean, it's easy to shit on someone else's work behind the wall of anonymity without contributing yourself, but that kind of criticism is meaningless, so you shouldn't really be worrying about that. We've seen nothing but compliments towards your work so far.

But again, you have to be comfortable with sharing these things. I personally hold back a lot of details from my own stories from fear of judgement, but I guess we need criticism in order to improve.

*and in other news, I think I will move forward with this new short film project while the Eldritch Knight thing takes a back-seat for a few days*

Gonna keep at this one. Funny thing is that was my feelings toward the drawing. Something that often concerns me is my portrayal of /X/. In my mind and in my work, I've always tried to keep her separate from /x/-tan as to not interfere with anyone's head-cannon or whatever pre-conceived notions they had for the character. But if people aren't offended by my ideas it's absolutely fine with me for people to see them as the same character. When I do draw /x/tan I try to keep details that make it easier to separate the two, but sometimes I slip up or get lazy and make their appearances similar.

Reavers have no morality, they kill sentient living beings indiscriminately and are in constant search of energy to stabilize their form and to become stronger. They're primal in nature, unable to help what they are, nor do they care about what they are, they have no memories, no past, no concept of future... All they want is to sap energy from the living and consume their corpses... the only times they are docile is when they sense no living sentient being and their form is relatively stable... then they just wander looking for more sentient living to tear apart. These beings are feared as they can easily slaughter groups of people and are difficult to be fully rid of. Superstitions make it harder as people believe religious paraphernalia can ward off and protect them from Reavers, however this is false, as Reavers have no fear of deities... nor do they have a concept of religion. Reavers are one of the few Geists who are as active during the day as they are at night making them dangerous rampage killers... an incident involving a reaver manifestation involved several police officers being ripped apart by the Reaver, it then beat an injured officer to death with his service weapon... upon inspection, the creature figured out how to fire the weapon and opened fire on evacuating civilians. It was finally dissipated by shotgun fire and its wisp was scrambled by electrical equipment, forcing it to flee the area... since that incident, that exact Reaver has been suspected in several murders of hunting parties in a hunting reserve near by evidenced by a cellphone photo that was recovered from one of the hunter's cellphone.

AncientoneTitan001.jpg

Titans are ancient beings native to Midgard, they acted as Earth's immune system, suppressing and eradicating species or ecosystems that threatened the balance of the planet. When the gods invaded the Earth, the Titans treated them as any other infection and rose up to drive them out before they upset the balance of Earth... after years of warring with one another, the gods tricked the Titans into a one way portal to Tartarus where all the major titans remain, a few minor titans have been scattered among various planes, with one major titan being imprisoned in Celestia/Olympus/Heaven/Asgard after being captured by Angels...
How the Titans were formed is unknown, really not much is known about them as they were banished to Tartarus and Tartarus isn't an easy place to go to let alone come back from. Though hell has studied the realm and there has been chance encounters with Titans not much is truely known about them, other than the fact they seem to harbor an almost primal, destructive nature, and are constantly active despite being detached from earth... Though minor Titans are thought to exist in the Broken Plane and even a few on earth, how they escaped Tartarus is a mystery and it is thought to perhaps be intervention from the Dark ones of Tartarus. Hell managed to capture a Promethean, a type of Titan that is created by Prometheus in order to aid its destructive warpath, and demons proceeded to study it to gain some kind of knowledge as to what the Titans really were... however it is a mystery whether what they found could be applied to titans themselves or are exclusive to Prometheans. The Promethean that hell holds is now kept at a zoo, where it mostly runs around its enclosure flops around randomly on the ground... it does not seem to need to eat, just occasionally plants itself in the ground and wiggles around with half its body buried. Demons have nicknamed the Promethean Baby thumb arms... for its strange oversized arms.

GeistBunyip001.jpg

Sometimes during manifestation, things go wrong... these abominations are usually lesser, unstable forms of geists... One of these unstable forms that can be taken is the Bunyip. It is unable to float or fly, and instead, crawls or runs using its arms, dragging its semi physical flesh on the ground beneath or behind it. These beings groan and hiss in agony as it drags its body around, looking for anything to attack and consume in a desperate attempt to stabilize its form and unify or sate its unholy hunger. Bunyips are beings that are hard to look at, twisted and contorted by the struggle of manifesting... its pained, strained form writhing... its flesh crawling over exposed semiphysical bone...
Bunyips are only dangerous if you are unarmed, like Reavers and other Semi solid geists, they can be harmed by physical means and because their form is unstable, dissipation is easy, usually only involving small arms fire, or a swift blow to the body to dissipate it. Bunyips often leave ectoplasm behind where they roam, making them easy to track... and despite the fact there are televised PSA's warning of the dangers of Bunyip attacks, they still manage to get the unwatched toddler or two. There is always a Risk a Bunyip will get enough energy to become a greater Geist form, Bunyips able to become a variety of forms... one of the dangers of this is sometimes one Bunyip can become two or even three Geists. There was a Bunyip in Texas that after it was purposely given car batteries to sap, it split into three Reavers that Rampaged through a suburb killing four families before being dispatched by a task force. Bunyips are a strange aberration, and not the only unstable form of Geist, but certainly one that can disturb even the most hardened of supernatural seeker.

He is stiff, falling backwards and not interacting with anything. Nothing is manifesting him on the picture, and he just floats off to the left. At first i thought he was bending backwards and laughing, but the perspective talks against it. To improve it, try adding the other hand too. To justify his floating and falling backwards, you ought to make a creepy orb or something else in front of him, which he is 'reacting' to.
Should i redline it up, or do you get where i am coming from?

>>
>>18012877
It could be as easy as just copy-pasting the drawings and text in a single, high resolution image, or maybe even a pdf, ebook style?

Anyway, I think the lack of confidence has more to do with your bad luck with shitty critics than your actual drawing abilities. We all love your stuff, and though there are sure to be some people that will say your work sucks, you can just ignore them and keep making your art. Bad opinions are temporary, good art lasts forever. Or until Cthulhu rises up to consume us all.

Hi everyone. Sorry for the inactivity for the last few days. I needed some downtime from the requests and /x/-ness, lol. Luckily, I spent that time drawing, inking, and lettering in my panels and dialog for the second issue of Faustfall.

>>18012877

>I don't have any confidence in my work, I've been rejected and kicked around too much to.

I know a fair amount of art students who felt similarly about their work when other peers would give very lackluster and bias criticism. Mind you, that type of one-sided and narrow-minded criticism can lower grades in our classrooms.

Nevertheless, I'll tell you the advice I gave them: don't feel ashamed of the negative criticism you'll receive from your work - constructive or not. You should remember you have a skill that many people lack or will need to spend years to obtain through enough practice. Just because you're surrounded by better artists or artists who might know more about concepts or formals doesn't insure your inability to be a competent artist.

Bawble, the sheer amount of lore you provide with your creature designs is admirable. I'm the same in that I NEED to have some kind of concept behind the things I draw. It can't just be "some monster" or "some spook." It has to have a purpose. You seem like someone who wants their work to express a narrative to your audience. The fact you can produce a paragraph with every drawing you've shown us thus far is proof of that ambition.

I won't preach to you to suddenly start loving your work. Honestly, I know some awesome artists on campus who have NO confidence in their work, but they continue to make impressive pieces. Personally, too, I am my worst critic. I spent hours making two comics and plan to spend more on my next one, but I always feel I'm doing a terrible job in some way. But y'know, it's not going to stop me from making the work. As long as you keep making the work and sharing us these wonderful concepts behind them, then I'm happy for you.

Ever want to create a mockery of life? well Golemmancy / Geomancy is the spell school for you!. Golems are magical beings usually crafted from some sort of mundane material and given life by the will of a mage, wizard, geomancer or some other magic user through the use of pure mana and mana gems. Mana gems are created by concentrating magic into a physical form, usually a geometric shape with glowing runes on the sides of them... these gems are usually inserted into a crafted or summoned body to act as magical batteries... then poof, you have yourself a Golem.
Golems are illegal in most countries, being considered to be abominations and the act of creating one is seen as an affront to various gods by various religious laws so the practice is very limited... not to mention Golems aren't always just mindless creatures taking orders from a master... whether golems can truly be considered living beings is a wild debate as Golem intelligence varies wildly, from some that wander randomly, to some that take simple orders, to others who carry philosophical conversations about life and what it is to truly live, and why a human's short lifespan ill equips it for true empathy outside its own species. Golems are very rare in the modern era due to magic being mostly outlawed in pretty much every country and Golems themselves being destroyed on sight by authority figures. Though few survive in areas with a little leniency, and new golems are created illegally all the time.
The strange thing is, the popularity of creating golems has risen in recent years ever since a rock and mineral themed show debuted... non human children have even been expelled from school for golem crafting on the playground.

Tartarus isn't a plane of existence you want to go on vacation... Tartarus is a plane of horrific aberrations and powerful, ancient, twisted beings in constant horrific warfare. It is a plane where no one dares to dwell long, and those who do, do not come back the same, or more often than not, at all. The only portal to Tartarus left on Midgard is on roots of the Tree of Agony... but since Agony has its own horrors abundant, research teams tend to avoid trying to study the area, or the portal any longer. Hell however has made brief expeditions into Tartarus with mixed results... one expedition they brought back a TickTacker. Nothing is known about what kind of conditions would cause a being such as these to evolve... their horrible wheezed breathing through wiggling tubes in their back, their mouth filled with sharp teeth that drip with black drool... their small arms that have multiple elbows, at the end, sharp blades that have already been proven to easily cut through protective gear. their strange, finger like legs that clack fingernail like feet onto the ground, able to balance perfectly despite their odd body shape. These horrible little abominations seem to be hyper aggressive like most things studied from Tartarus, They also seem unusually agile despite their strange body form and very difficult to study as the captured TickTacker escaped from several cages and cells before one was devised that would keep the creature at bay, and though no Demon researches were killed during the expedition to capture the Tarturian, nor were any killed by it, ones whom were attacked did fall very ill, and had to be treated with not only magical aid, but powerful antibiotics... one Demon, a Wrathverge commented that the illness was "like your skin was trying to pull itself from your bones, that your organs were trying to kill eachother and escape your body... its a miracle none of us died... I remember vomitting a good amount of blood."

Here's an idea. Instead of listening to us all say how much we like your stuff when you don't feel that way yourself, try setting personal goals for improvement. What, specifically, do you not like about your work? Try to find the things that bother you the most and work on fixing those. If you must, find a piece of work that you hate and either try to redo the concept or make a new piece entirely that you can feel confident enough to say you like better than the other one.

If you can do that, at least it will be a step in the right direction.

Tartarus is a very hellish, confusing place that has perplexing and horrifying creatures that dot its twisted landscape. One of the many types of beasts that roam these lands is called a Tarturian Shambler, not to be confused with the Broken plane's Dimensional Shambler. Tarturian Shamblers are beasts capable of incredible feats of strength as they rampage through and consume all that is before them... these beasts have been observed only a handful of times and it has never ended well for those who were doing the observing. These towering balls of rage typically get around by knuckle walking but are fully capable of running using their proportionally smaller legs...
Shamblers are difficult to study as much of their anatomy doesn't make much sense... They have full awareness of their surroundings despite not having any eyes, ears, or nostril openings... they are able to move around at very fast speeds despite being so heavy... and despite having no describable intelligence, instead just being rampaging animals, they manage to cast incredibly complex spells... one Shambler actually casting a fully functioning raise skeleton spell... which was thought to require sentient thought in order to cast.
Only one attempt was ever made to capture a Tarturian Shambler... after the Chernobyl incident, several portals to Hell, Tartarus and the Broken planes were opened... while the Hell mouths and the doors to the Broken Planes were quickly closed, the Tartarus gates remained opened long enough for some creatures to get through. The Russian and Ukrainian troops attempted to capture some of the beasts... one of the beasts was a Tarturian shambler who proceeded to soak up gun fire like a sponge and rip soldier after soldier to shreds... the ones it couldn't get close to, it simply killed with powerful magics. Some Survivors stated that the Shambler at one point roared, and nearby soldiers began attacking eachother and firing on their own ranks...

Here's something I've been working on;
For the past few months, I've been slowly working on a series called "Ivan and Friends".
The basic premise is that it's a sort of webcomic in the vein of children's entertainment. (Imagine a kind of Dora the Explorer/Blues Clues type show, where the main character goes around having a "conversation" with the audience, while doing basically nothing the entire episode).
The basic plot is just following the main character (Ivan) around his daily life, accompanied by his by his "friends", who the audience realises, are increasingly sketchy as time goes on.
By the end of the whole thing, it is revealed that
the whole thing is actually part of a cult, and Ivan was actually a construct, created to go on a suicide mission into the underworld or some such.
(Might upload some more if anyone finds it interesting)

Though it is strange to profile a mundane creature... it is something that can put into perspective how harsh life can truely be on other worlds. No such example of this is hell... a place so harsh, its civilized residences build walled cities to shelter themselves from the harshness that is their world's nature. Slasherbeasts / Runner Demons as they're called by mudgardians who lump all demons together... are animals on hell, and in fact are quite common. Able to run at the speed of a Cheetah and able to maintain that speed for considerable distances... they are also able to leap fast, and accurately, and with enough force to pulverize a target on impact. These beasts roam Hell's vast landscape in packs, hunting prey for them to consume... able to generate enough speed to briefly run along walls or even up them, the danger they pose is very real. Demons have devised many methods of keeping the creatures out of cities and towns, but out in the wilderness and along the highways where walls have fallen into disrepair or have demolished by Hulks and Juggernauts, Runners infest waiting for essentially delicious meals on wheels. To make things particularly worse, is these things have the ability to cast low level spells such as endurance and magic missile to aid in their hunting... luckily for any demon caught by these beings, it is usually a quick and painless death as their quickly decapitated by these creature's long blade like forelimbs... While wild runners are very dangerous, there are several domesticated breeds that do provide aid to the demonic populace... even a pygmy breed that demons keep as pets which are far removed from their Runner ancestry... so much so as having rounded nubs for horns and forelimbs. While rare, humans on midgard have encountered runners in the past... a truck pitstop was seiged by a single runner, who slaughtered all of the Diner's staff, and a few truck drivers before it was finally found and killed only half a mile from a nearby town.

Nah, she's got more fucked proportions, deer legs, little thorn like barbs, and an affinity for people watching.
Also, no teleporting/interdimensional shenanigans, just good old fashioned, horrific abomination!

Thought I'd upload more of, this on the off chance anyone gives a shit, but mostly because I have fuck all to do today.
The four depicted are the "main characters" of the series.

First is Ivan (named as such for fairly obvious reasons), our naïve and childlike protagonist, who is unaware of the truth behind his "friends" actions.

Next is Dameon, named after the old english spelling "Daemon. Though never overtly stated, he appears to be the one in charge of (or at least in a high position of power within) the group running entire affair. He's calm and cold, in that menacing "I have so much influence, you couldn't lay a finger on me if you tried" sort of way.

Third is Dante, whose namesake should be fairly obvious, The Inferno. Silent and imposing, Dante is Dameons right hand man (ironically enough). He rarely speaks, and when he does, you know it's for something really damn important. He lost his arm when he volunteered for the first attempt to enter the Demonic realm (or whatever), hence his name.

Lastly, is Robin. Poor, delicate Robin. Robin's name, like Ivan's is fairly obvious in its internal logic. Robin is somewhat soft-spoken, yet always overly enthusiastic and exaggerated. He can be very nervous and or even paranoid, and with fair reason. He appears to be affiliated with Dameon, though somewhat begrudgingly. Dameon acts as his superior, and Robin seems too frightened of him to object. He is implied to also be some sort of construct created by the ones in charge, perhaps a failed attempt at what Ivan achieves, with unintended benefit. Every so often, his eyes go wide, his back straightens, and in a steady tone, describes curious sights only he can see.

Needless to say, not all of this is clear from the get-go, and more of it becomes clear as time goes on.

Hey guys.

Sorry there wasn't much art-making today. I had my first day back to college and most of that was spent with my filler classes. Tomorrow I'll be introduced to my art classes, so hopefully I'll have more time to work on something new.

In the meantime, I did make this quick sketch of a new character design. I... really like it. I'm already working on a digital image of her that'll hopefully be done by tomorrow night. I'll post it here or in the new OC thread (whenever that's made that is.)

The funny thing about being undead... is you get to live a really long time. If you play your cards right, hundreds of years... if you're really fucking good at surviving you can last until the earth dies. Arn is a Zombie, one raised by necromancy, so eating the flesh of the living isn't a priority. No, he instead roams the earth as a fugitive, wanted for multiple murders of witch hunters. Killing something that is already undead or that is wholly undesirable isn't exactly illegal... but killing something trying to kill those undead or undesirables is... in comes ol' Arn... a Zombie willing to stand up for his and other's rights to live. Witch hunters, is what he hunts... Witch hunters known for killing undesirable species including various undead / parasite infected / aberations / geists / and many others that only crime is living with an ancestry that didn't exactly fit in the mold that modern society laid forth. Well Arn and his Posse of undead are fully willing to lay down their unlives to fight for the freedom of cast away species in need of a hero. Arn is a rough man, who makes snap judgements and is quick with his fire arms, while he prefers weapons of his era, he is fully capable of using just about any gun or knife he can get his cold dead hands on.
Not much is known about who he was before, he has wandered the earth for so long he can't fully recall his own life... after all once he was raised he had to relearn to talk and walk properly as most of his brain rotted away before he was reawakened. He owes his current, healthier appearance to the fact he stays active, well fed, and makes sure to get a few regeneration spells cast upon him every couple of weeks to mend the wounds he accumulates due to his line of work. He refuses to get the discoloration around his neck fixed as it is the only real evidence of who he was in life... he knows he was hung, but isn't quite sure for what...

I adored the backstory behind this one, it's awesome. This could be its own story.

This is so cute, I'll have to show it to my gf, she loves this kind of stuff.

I'll keep watch in case we reach the post limit. If anything happens, I can make the new thread.

Thanks anon. It's fun what boredom can spawn in the classroom, lol. She has a nice mix of "creepy cutie" and "old witch" going on.

>>18030296

Because she has two short stumps that are saturating into the tatters of her dress, lol. Certainly a clear sign of "last minute" design work at play.

For shits and giggles, here's the initial sketch I did of her on my history notes (where you CAN see her legs).

>This is so cute, I'll have to show it to my gf, she loves this kind of stuff.

Feel free! I'm surprisingly enthralled with her design atm, so I hope I can do something more meaningful with her in the future.

>The Bloodline Claws Lucifer looks especially awesome.

Yep, that's some good 'ole edgy high-school magic right there. I think those claws have gone through so many re-designs, I need to gather them all up one day and just make the proper, final design for them. Personally, I get annoyed when my character designs fluctuate in consistency.

Welp, I've got some art classes to attend today, folks. Hopefully, I'll have something more substantial to post tonight.
